Update: IOB mobile MPIN generation done. Sent application to Branch email. They processed the MPIN after matching my signature. Smooth process must say.

Debit Card generated in app and showing "IN ACTIVE" and telling to contact branch to activate it. Do I need to contact branch to activate it as IOB atm is far away from my place.

There's no need to visit branch. You can use Debit Card in any IOB ATM, it'll generate OTP. You can enter OTP and set PIN. This will activate card automatically.

You can also do the same in Internet Banking: Menu is available under IOB Cards-->IOB Debit Card-->Activate New Debit Card.

Koi sense hai iss baat ka? They have mentioned on their service charges list that issuance upto 100 leaves of cheques is free.

And this is true for all account variants. So 1 chequebook for INR 60 not that bad. You won't need another for forseable future.
Yeah more so than the cost of getting the Chequebook had to harass them multiple times for that lol. Hopefully account stays okay now.

Also, just open the general account to start worh but I would suggest you later uograde to SB Max (can be done online) account. With 5000 MAB (irrespective of branch type) you dont get SMS charges. Not bad if you ask me

Note: Cheque book delivery charge is unavoidable for any account type. This would be the speedpost charges, 60 chequebooks free for SB Max. 20-25 for General.

Dont forget to get the passbook. It's difficult to work with older employees in the bank without the passbook.

No other surprises apart from these.

After you get the account generate an alphanumeric account no (eg RITWIOB). People can transfer you money by entering the letters instead of numbers in beneficiary. This feature is unquie to businesses eg Zerodha has alphanumeric account no.

People are surprised when I share my VVIP accout no (eg RAMTXN)

Note: You can generate the alphanumeric no once for free, but if you want to change it, it will cost you Rs 30-50 for each change.
Freedom account has no charges, no cheque book delivery charge!
