Hi CC Experts, Need your help to understand one situation. I raised a concern to CIBIL about less CIBIL score later I have come to know one issue about my report in the official mail reply. CIBIL team stated that the SBI card which I have closed in the year 2018 reported until 2024 which lead to score decline. So I have shared my concern to SBI cards and my request is under process. Can I claim any compensation for the damage happened to my report due to wrong reporting?

and

I got one more doubt here. If any of my active card with zero outstanding for months leads to CIBIL score decline just like it happened to closed card?

Here the only difference is closed card vs active card.

Please clear my doubt if anyone of you familiar with this. Thank you

@techofino please assist. Thank you in advance. 🙂

What did SBI Card report that caused your CIBIL score to decline? Could you share more details... maybe a screenshot of the SBI Card section from your CIBIL report?

You can also request compensation from SBI Card if they reported something inaccurate that negatively impacted your score, especially since the card was closed back in 2018.

As for your second question: no, it does not affect your CIBIL score.

Does all the card automatically close after a year of zero transactions?
Do you know if they will inform us before closing?
I had my SBI credit card permanently deactivated by SBI on July 31st 2025 after a year of zero transactions 🙁

Didn't they inform prior to deactivation??
They did send SMS on 2nd July about closure by 31st July if I had not done any transaction before that. I missed that! It had an offer too! ,,🙆

Caution! Your card ending with XXXX has been inactive for more than 12 months. To comply with RBI guidelines, your card & any Add-on card(s) will be closed effective 31JUL2025. To avoid this, make at least one transaction before 31JUL2025. You can also get Rs. 100 Cashback by spending Rs. 250 or more between 02JUL2025 - 30JUL2025. T&C: www.sbicard.com/rtcboffer - SBI Card

Any suggestion how compensation I can expect from SBI cards due to this years of damage to CIBIL score?

The Reply I got from CIBIL is below:

And the SBI card section contains in CIBIL Report is "on time payment" only until September 2024 even though my SBI card was closed in the Year 2018. As CIBIL officially confirmed that this reporting lead to score decline I have raised a complaint to SBI to correct it immediately and demanded fair compensation also.

Please refer the below Screenshot of Experian Report (Same in the CIBIL also as the cred app is showing yearwise I could not able to take single screenshot of all last 3 years). As per CIBIL mail SBI cards reported more than 6+ years even after I closed the card)
