I got almost all categories activated, don't know much about this system in details. Still learning from experts here

But yeah I've myself selected the merchant category while creating a PG using FrontEnd and it making API calls, I earned rewards creating and using the PG MCC, So thinking why can't these app can do that.

Ah, so this is the confusion.

You selecting a merchant category doesn't mean it is mcc or you'll get the same category.

Most of the times, ofc the category is fine as most people don't mis-represent themselves or do fraud.

And also in merchant category code doesn't mean it has one mcc only. One category can have even 20 mcc codes in itself.

Yep, I bought a car 5 yrs back, so ofc a automobile dealer but their mcc was related to deep freezing products.

Also nowadays banks aren't looking for grocery customers as they think people will buy grocery anyways, it's a survival thing. Hence they put caps on grocery points. Case in point - dcbm and infinia. Capping is 2k points not more than that.

Even they are categorizing supermarkets as grocery spends only, not normal shopping.
