ICICI Bank Manager Refusing to Open Regular Savings Account – Need Help

Hey everyone,
Today 02/06/2024 I went to my nearest ICICI Bank to open a regular savings account, but the Branch Manager, told me that they are only opening 3-in-1 accounts (Savings + Demat + Trading). He outright refused to open a standard regular savings account and even denied giving any written refusal.

Esclated my issue to TWITTER received call 5 days ago, but no resolution or call back again.

I esclated my issue to ICICI CUSTOMER CARE, They are also not helping. Attaching Email.

Today, I again contacted the Branch Manager via call after receiving today last email from ICICI CUSTOMER CARE.

BRANCH MANAGER instantly recognized me and said that he had received my complaint email from ICICI.

He told me, "You are a student , have no income proof. so, I cannot open any savings account, including a regular savings account, because I have no income source."

He is ready to open only a BSBDA account for me. But I clearly told him that I am not interested in a BSBDA account — I want to open a regular savings account.

👉 Is there any income criteria for opening a regular savings account in ICICI Bank?

What to do now yaar 😔, Earlier He was ready to open my 3 in 1 account, without any income criteria. Now he is not opening my any saving account other than BSBDA.

I think I messed up with BRANCH MANAGER what to do next.

I had a dormant salary account. In 2021, My local branch refused to help and asked me to fly to the city where the account is, and waste 2 days get cluster manager approval. That's how they are - nobody cares for you, but all the staff cares about is their income.

Only reason to open account is it has 0 MAB for lifetime.

Write to twitter team again and explain about what happened until now and ask them to provide the escalation email address..or address the issue or ask them to direct someone to attend your issue..

Which state are you from?

Go to another branch and ask. (chances are less, but still give it a try).
If you can give initial funding 50k it is very easy, any branch will open regular savings account.
You can withdraw the amount after a few days.

I had the same experience. Out of 6 branches I visited, 2 of them told they open only 3-in-1 account.
Easiest way is to go to another branch with 50k.

Unfortunately some banks operations differ a bit depending upon state to state.. someone from Bihar might be able to help you in your case..lets wait if someone can help you in giving advice in how to progress further...
