ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = ₹1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

I think 5x is the rate via Payzap and Smartbuy, not 3x; cross-check it.
DCBM is 3x on vouchers like blinkit, swiggy, amazon & myntra. infinia is 5x. since i got EPM, i started hating DCBM more & more, it seems like a nonsense card personally to me. there is no reward points even on annual fees.

Can you share a little more about complaint with RBI? i thought we cannot raise ishop complaint with RBI.
In the name of iShop you can’t. It was more about deficiencies in promised service, no proactive identification and rectification of the technical glitch, potential loss due to the error etc. More so, negative 54k balance meant future points earned would be first adjusted against those 54k, had I not caught the glitch. At the normal rate of 3%, it takes 18L f spends to earn 54k points. Other point was that due to that technical glitch, which was admitted by the bank, for the entire month no points were credited.
I personally feel, one should write to ICICI to enhance the transparency with iShop points credit and other benefits. Hope these are teething issue and will be addressed in the due course.

i ma monitoring the points with excel. i found deficiency in rewards points too. i requested detailed reward statement for july & August form them. for july its been more than 1 month and no response. i requested the escalation matrix but no response. i do not know where to go next other than toll free number or email support. i understand its new and it will take time to stabilize but still no door seems to be open.

That’s an issue with ICICI bank. Their customer service is relatively inferior. Write to headservicequality and see.

It's really disheartening to see this being a widespread issue. I thought I was the only one dealing with it.

My point total issued in Jun/Jul are incorrect and a clear error of issuing more and then deducting double. I've asked for the complete breakdown of iShop and base points ( and provided my own numbers) to fix the error. Complete silence from all levels of customer care and escalations.

I ended up escalating to rbi ombudsman, alongwith another issue the bank hasn't resolved in 5 months - even failing to honor what the pno finally committed in July for that other issue.

i required detailed point breakdown for ishop. base reward point by icici is very clear & always gets on time.

I approached with my rm on the side, and the iShop breakdown is actually exactly matching with my own. It's just the final credit they are messing up somewhere. In fact, I think they just screwed up somewhere in trying to issue iShop points faster. Around Jun, they switched to issuing iShop points in the same statement, but their system screwed up the calculations.

He hasn't been able to get the actual calculation of base points and those credits from the credit card team.

They have screwed my flights points booked on 4 and 5 July they counted both days booking in same and hit daily cap. I lost around 2200 points . Waiting for 72 hours but there is no clear escalation matrix so little hopeless . I have doubt how should I approach rbi. Should i approach rbi for complaint against ICICI or Ishop. ICICI put a statement on website about Ishop and I felt they are trying to distant themselves from Ishop for legal issues

I don't really know - maybe other experts here know better. But for me, this was filed as an issue with service deficiency and complete lack of responses from the bank. (Especially the first issue pending for 5 months).

Besides I'm not really contesting the iShop points because I already can see those are correct from a spreadsheet my RM shared with me. It's just the total points they credited where their math seems to be wrong.

I think we can approach for complaint against ICICI as still ICICI responsible for points even from Ishop and it’s mentioned the card statement. Will wait sometime before escalating to rbi on service deficiency factor.

I think so, personally, yes. And looking at several reports of the same issue here and on reddit, the bank has really screwed the pooch - I'm sure the impact is more widespread but not everyone is validating if their points total is correct. If I get some traction in my complaint to the rbi, I'll be sure to bring up these as additional evidence and ask the ombudsman to issue a directive to the bank to fix their system.
