ICICI Bank Account Opening Experience - Comprehensive Discussion

I already wrote above. Even asking for 1 lakh account .

Yes, you did. But, my apologies; the way you wrote suggested that they were just "asking". It appears that now their online form system requires those things?

So, I have told the lady that on principle I am not going to go forward with this, that my initial funding and the TRV over 6 months ought to be enough. Else, they can always downgrade and call it a day.

They are opening a savings account here, not offering a credit card or a loan where they need income proof. If this "proving" requirement is waived off, we can go ahead and open the account, else, they may keep it. There is nothing that attracts in that account, except that the branch is near and I thought okay, no harm in having an account with a branch so nearby. They seem adamant on being ICICI, which means I will be banking with better banks either way.

We should not force open account in any bank with such a huge criteria. In future they may miss use our data. Like open demat , auto investment. When asked they will say while opening account you signed in T&C

Thanks for the consistent follow up 🙂

So I like I told in my previous post, decided to get a salary credit in this account and my July salary came in this account last week.
I was supposed to go to bank to check the account status and conversion to WM but I couldn't go this week.
I am going tomorrow to branch

These are my further requirements:
1. Ask if it has been properly changed/converted to normal salary account with the account variant code and all active.
2. I need to upgrade it to WM. They had told me earlier that it can be done, so I will get the form, fill and sign it.
3. Wait for WM and get the world master debit card. (Current titanium card that I have is got with the instant kit, without even name printed on it)

Optional:
4. I will also ask about private banking - what is the requirement etc. (Not an urgent need, but just to see what they say)
5. I will also ask about EPM -- just throwing a ball, will see if they hit or not.
@SureShot
I visited the branch today and submitted the upgrade form to convert to WM. I think they will be upgrading it to Wealth Salary account.
It's wealth management for salary account variant. I don't exactly know the difference of this one between the original WM that comes with TRV.
And I didn't bother to ask as well. As of now it is proper salary account (previlege) with employer mapping and all done.

I asked about EPM but they are asking for meeting all these 3 strict conditions - 3L salary and existing CC 6L limit and PPOP 50k. (all 3). I didn't argue there, just left it.

You need atleast 2.5 LPM salary then only they will consider, for me they took a month and refused to offer EPM because I had 2.17LPM salary and has 9 years of salary account with them.

ICICI don't retain their loyal customer and that's why I left them and opened my salary account with HDFC.
