Fuel Credit card Gimmicks

Hi All,

I have been using different Fuel Credit cards in past and I feel most of the cards are just gimmicks by banks.

Many pumps are not listed as that brand pumps by banks and to add to it pumps are using their own machines which provided by paytm or othe third party vendors.

Due to which almost it's hard to get rewards unless we have one or two pumps near our home which is fully setup to get us the rewards.

If you are frequent traveller then mostly we will end losing rewards as it's difficult to track and trace and get back the rewards.

Over all IMO fuel cards are mostly luck based if it worked then fine else it's gone.

Yes, hence preferred milestone cards. All banks (except AXIS) works for milestone benefits. Best Amex but works for any bank. Good to know you realized finally.

I was fed up with cobranded cards hence following the below mentioned combination for the time being:

1. Park Plus with Amex Plat Travel for IOCL

2. Amex MRCC/Plat Travel for HPCL and Private Players

3. StanC Ultimate where the above two don’t work

4. MobiKwik Wallet UPI where the above three dont work

Can you also give the reward rates for all these methods and why you use them

1. 9-10%
2. 4.5-7%
3. -0.18% (positive in case of any ongoing spends based offer)
4. 2.25-4%

Above estimates are in case of conservative redemption options hence its mostly more than that.

With regards to the reason why I use them have specified on this post

Adding

5. one card since they have introduced 5% on fueling from this month

Hello there.
I was searching for some indirect ways to buy fuel which gives better rewards. Not using fuel cards.
I am late to this party, but better late than never.
From many threads I got to know that HP Pay and Park+ apps have many indirect ways to load to their wallets or buy vouchers and use it for fuel payments.
That too the returns depends on which cards we use. + there are surcharges and extra fees for using cards.

HP Pay itself has many different ways of adding money - though credit cards, then there is another way where you top up your fastag wallet using a credit card and then pay using fastag. (possible for ICICI and IDFC First)
Then you can redeem zillion coins, and some other ways in HP Pay. You can also directly buy HPPay voucher via credit cards and add to their wallet.
There is something called Happy Coins (I think like some cashback you get each time after paying), and even those happy coins can also be used to pay for fuel.

Park+ is another app where we can buy indian oil vouchers. It has a gamification system. It is more like a game.
Each time you complete some task, you get few ml fual (that is kind of their currency)
And when their wallet reaches 5L fuel you can redeem it and use for fuel purchase.
There are many games, contests kind of things in Park+, it is more like a paytm for indian oil petrol.

I am just a beginner in this, and there are many hidden tips and tricks that people use to get good returns on fuel purchase.
Swiping cards has many difficulties and problems like people say in many threads. From staff not knowing how to redeeem, points not getting correctly, surcharge not waived off correctly etc. In short there are things that we need to track closely.

How and what has been your fuel purchase strategy? what tricks you use to get the best rewards?
