Comments: A massive devaluation. From uncapped dining discounts to a layered cap structure, halved reward point value, and removal of key lifestyle benefits — this downgrade hits heavy. Even the increase in RP earning on travel doesn’t compensate for the loss. Source: Email From IndusInd Bank Thread Link:click here

Date: 19-06-2025 Payment Method: RuPay Credit Cards via UPI Update: MDR being charged on < ₹2,000 transactions by most UPI payment business apps
Most UPI-based business/payment apps like:
Paytm Business
HDFC SmartHub Vyapar
Some Others have started charging MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) even for customer-initiated transactions below ₹2,000 via RuPay Credit Cards on UPI for small merchants too.
Exception:
As of now, PhonePe and very few apps are not charging MDR on such transactions and continues to allow zero-MDR below ₹2,000.
Source: Personally verified by me (Merchant)
Current Observation (Needs Confirmation):
There are multiple reports suggesting that MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) is being applied on RuPay credit card transactions via UPI, including those below ₹2,000.
It appears that this may not be app-wide, but rather merchant-specific – especially among small and part-time merchants across platforms like Paytm Business, GPay Business, HDFC SmartHub, PhonePe, etc.
Some merchants still report zero MDR on the same platforms, further indicating a non-uniform rollout.
We’ll continue monitoring and will update this post once there is more clarity or an official confirmation on the MDR implementation status.

Comments: This is a massive blow to SBI premium cardholders. Losing ₹1 Cr/₹50L Air Insurance makes travel riskier without add-on cover. The new MAD structure may increase interest liability for those paying minimum dues. Definitely reconsider your card strategy if insurance or repayment flexibility was a key factor.
Comments: This is a significant downward revision, especially for lower balance holders. Earlier, Kotak offered higher-tiered interest rates even for modest balances, which now stand uniformly reduced to 2.75% p.a. across the board for balances under ₹50L. Better to use their ActiveMoney feature now.
Now, Many banks are reducing interest rates to 2.7% p.a Source: click here
