Credit card for HDFC ERGO insurance payment

Hi,

Please suggest which of the following credit card I should be using for maximum rewards to make an insurance payment of 30K:

SC Ultimate
Axis Magnus (cannot reach 1L milestone this month)
ICICI Amazon Pay
IDFC First Select

I have Amex as well, but the payment gateway isn't accepting it.

Can you use Amazon Pay wallet on the HDFC Ergo site? If yes then buy APay vouchers using Magnus here: https://www.gyftr.com/edgerewards/amazon-gift-vouchers. Add to your Amazon wallet and use the balance. You get 3.6% this way in APay voucher rewards. More if you are into the miles/hotels game

SC Ultimate gets devalued on 2nd April. https://www.sc.com/in/credit-cards/ultimatecreditcardfaqs/ That is the next best option

30K payment on Select card will fetch you 1.33% (1.2% on 25K and 2% on 5K) (but reward redemption charges are there) (EDIT: Don't use. No rewards if you pay on the ERGO site. "Fuel and Insurance Spends, EMI Transactions, ATM Cash withdrawals are excluded from the Rewards Program" https://www.idfcfirstbank.com/personal-banking/Important-Communication-Rewards-Select)

I don't see ERGO on the Amazon site. So using the APay card elsewhere fill fetch you 1%

No, APay isn't an option on HDFC Ergo. Which is why I'm looking for other options.

yeah, SC Ultimate is the next best or the only option.

Is there any capping for insurance payment using Magnus?

Please note the changes I made regarding the Select card. Don't use it.

Sorry, I did not see your last question earlier. Using Magnus, you can pay as much as your want and it will be included in the monthly and annual milestones. But you will get a maximum of 6000 ER per insurance transaction. This means you will get base ER for only the first 1 lakh portion of the transaction, in case your transaction is larger than 1 lakh (in your case it isn't, so no issues, you will get regular reward points at 12 ER per 200)

For Ultimate: They seem to have removed vouchers. So keep that in mind too. https://www.technofino.in/community/threads/sc-ultimate-redemption-options.5589/post-158547

Keeping aside the set of CC provided by the OP, what is the best way to get rewards from paying for an HDFC Ergo Health Insurance plan?

Hi people,

There's an option to pay the insurance premium directly on Amazon Pay. The thing is, it throws an error when we enter DOB. Not sure what the valid format is. Has anyone tried this yet?
