Axis Credit Card EMI pre closure

Hello friends, I made a purchase of ₹12,500 using an Axis Credit Card on EMI for 6 months. I purchased the product on 17th November, and as of today, it shows as converted to EMI. My billing date is the 13th of every month. Now, I would like to pre-close this loan by the end of this month.

How can I do it? If I pay ₹12,500 to the credit card (there are no other purchases in this billing cycle), will the EMI close automatically, or do I need to use any other online method? (I don’t have an Axis bank account.)

I called customer care and requested to pre-close the EMI. The customer care executive canceled the EMI, and I need to pay the full/remaining amount in this month's bill. Additionally, the EMI processing fee and GST were reversed because I canceled the EMI before the bill was generated.

Hey, did anyone try this in 2025?

I bought a product on no cost emi just today. My bill would be generated on 20th. If i cancel it once it's converted to emi and before bill generation, that would not attract any charges, right?

There is an associated hidden cost that people usually are unaware of. EMI conversion voids any Reward Points eligibility for that particular transaction. If the EMI is cancelled within the stipulated time, one may get the EMI fee + GST reversed, but one never gets back the reward points! Depending on the value of the purchase, this loss could be substantial.

The rewards depend on the card variant also. If the card is a entry level one then we can get better discounts through the emi cancellation provided it is a no cost emi. However this is soon getting over as one by one the banks are closing this option. First hdfc then icici, maybe axis also could follow.
