🚀 Axis Bank is rolling out a new security feature – Mobile OTP! 🚀

If you use Axis Internet Banking, you know how important OTPs are for login and transactions. Until now, these OTPs were sent via SMS, but Axis Bank is now introducing Mobile OTP via the Axis Mobile App for a more secure and seamless experience.

What is Axis Mobile OTP?​

Axis Mobile OTP allows users to generate OTPs directly from the Axis Mobile Banking App, eliminating the need to wait for SMS-based OTPs. This is useful when you have network issues or delays in receiving OTP messages.

How to Use Axis Mobile OTP?​

1️⃣ Download the latest version of the Axis Mobile App.
2️⃣ Complete registration within the app to enable Mobile OTP.
3️⃣ When logging in to Internet Banking, select the Mobile OTP option instead of waiting for an SMS.
4️⃣ Generate OTP in the app and enter it for secure authentication.

✅ More Secure – Reduces risk of OTP interception via SIM swap fraud.

I hate this move, so now I need my phone and open the axis app to log into netbanking. standard TOTP would have been much better, this move is huge hit to the convenience of netbanking.

How is it cost cutting? There was no authentication before. Now there there is one. Ofcourse it's not the best and not the most convenient. Maybe in future you might be able to use any 2FA app.

I can read my SMS (or even copy the code) from my PC directly with KDE connect or Phone link. Now I need to unlock phone > open axis mobile (slow animations.) > enter MPIN > wait for viewing otp (another loading screen) > manually type it.

The difference is 20s+.

SMS costs axis bank money to send. Telecom operators have hiked up the cost of bulk SMSs . They're just trying to save money.

🎉 Successfully Removed Axis Mobile OTP!

Hi all,
I was tired of the Axis Mobile OTP during NetBanking login. Changing it to SMS/Email OTP from settings didn’t work. 😩

So I emailed the Nodal Officer at nodal.officer@axisbank.com with my CC last 4 digits, customer ID, and requested to switch to SMS OTP.

After 2-3 days, they confirmed Mobile OTP was disabled! 🙌

Now I can log in using SMS OTP only! ✅
Try this if you're facing the same issue.
