Any update on HDFC + Apple Card or Apple Pay?

Hi Everyone,

Do you guys have any update on HDFC Apple Pay card? Any HDFC insider here who may share some timeline?

I have couple of young professionals in my circle, who I encouraged to get themselves starter credit cards (LTF). Somehow, I still see so many of us Indian's think of credit card as something negative. (This maybe a topic we can discuss/cover in another article).

Now coming to this - most of these young professionals are eligible for HDFC Regalia Gold LTF (Alumni category), however, I am asking them to hold off and wait for Apply Pay Card.

So, if any insiders from HDFC can shed some light on product launches. I'll really appreciate. Albeit I think Regalia Gold (if LTF) is a solid starter card!

Thank you.

If you had seen reviews, there are many uncertainties around this card. Samsung has few co-branded cards like Axis-Samsung, but not very popular. IMO, no point in waiting for the card, if someone is getting another good HDFC Bank card.

Also, apple's card was a loss maker in USA. Their terms were pretty bad for the partner bank and that's why GS decided to partner with them over any of the many banks which are entrenched in retail banking. Considering the base of hdfc, it doesn't make much sense for hdfc to give similar benefits as what gs was offering in USA. And if apple insists on similar benefits then hdfc would make sure that this card is as hard to get as Infinia.

HDFC offers LTF CC for folks from IIMs, FMS, IIFT, MDI etc.

So generally campus hired associates who start with roughly INR 1.5Lacs monthly salary are offered Regalia (now Gold) for LTF
Personally this makes the card less desirable when you hand out it to graduates from esteemed institutes

I'm having a better credit profile than most of the newbies and more salarie than them yet still HDFC does it dandirona about CL and post card approval downgrade and what not

It will be same as any other card. You can use it to pay for your bills via tap to pay and swipe.

But its more targeted to iPhone users because of Apple Pay app. Its similar to how Axis offers Samsung cards.
you mean will be, because Apple Pay doesn't even exist here yet. Lets see how it goes. I am curious to see what comes first, Apple co-branded card or Apple Pay

Right. Roughly all premier institutes mentioned in Diners Black alumni offer list. I was offered the Regalia Gold LTF and I took it. It was my first CC.

It's not going to launch in India any time soon. Forget about this card.

Apple doesn't even permit paying by credit card for it's app store for regulatory reasons.
