Amazon Refund Not Received – Invalid RRN & False Assurances Since 28th May

Hello,
I am seeking suggestions on what steps to take next regarding an unresolved refund issue.

Here’s the background:

I purchased a Prime Video subscription on 23rd November 2024 for ₹1,499 (1 year plan).

On 23rd May 2025, I cancelled the subscription as I was no longer using Prime Video and planned to switch to the Prime Shopping Edition.

As per an email from Amazon, a refund of ₹764.49 was to be processed and credited to my account by 28th May 2025.

However, as of today, the refund has not been credited to my account.

On 6th June, I received an email from Amazon which stated:

“The Refund Reference Number for the transaction is _Releasetomerchant.”

That was the only reference given.

When I contacted Amazon support and requested a valid Refund Reference Number (RRN), I was given this number: 1044043274989.

Even after following up again, they provided the same number, which I strongly believe is not a valid RRN, and here’s why:

In my Amazon account Transactions Refunds page, this transaction does not show an RRN, unlike other refunds where a valid RRN is clearly displayed. I explained this to Amazon support multiple times, but they keep insisting that the refund was processed and that the RRN has already been shared via email.

Due to Amazon’s lack of cooperation, I contacted my bank, and they confirmed that the matter would be investigated a process that could take up to 7 weeks. They also mentioned:

“As a service gesture, an interim credit for the disputed amount will be credited to your account to avoid any financial charges for non-payment during the investigation period.”

Still, I must reiterate that the RRN provided by Amazon appears to be false or invalid, and no actual refund seems to have been initiated.

To date, I have spoken with 21–22 Amazon representatives via call and chat. Each of them gives the same response:

“The refund has been processed and is visible in your transaction history.”

However, whenever I request the RRN, they simply give me the Order ID (which is already mentioned in the Prime receipt tab), not a valid RRN the one my bank needs to trace the transaction.

To make matters worse:
Every time I reach out to Amazon, they ask for 1–2 days to resolve the issue, but never follow up. They claim the support ticket is still “open,” yet I only receive standard automated feedback emails without any actual resolution.

Today, I had a 45 minute call with a senior escalation executive, and I’ve recorded the conversation. He once again gave me the same false assurance that I’d get an update within 1–2 days the same promise I’ve been hearing since 28th May.

At this point, I am extremely frustrated and don’t know whom to escalate this matter to, since it seems Amazon has never actually initiated the refund, and continues to give repeated false assurances without providing any valid proof of refund (like a proper RRN).
