Amazon Pay UPI Strange Issue

Last Monday I changed my smartphone. On new device I setup every other UPI app like BHIM, Gpay, Phonepe, Paytm etc. seamlessly. There should be no error because primary sim is inserted in new device.

Now coming to amazon, I logged in and tried to setup upi, faced an error. The error only mentioned try after sometime so I didn't think much. 1000017624.webp But even after a day same thing was happening. So I tried setting up in the old device and it worked without any error.

I contacted the chat support then and they raised a ticket. Later when I contacted them for any update on the ticket, they said that as per the reply of their upi tech team, upi is blocked temporarily on the new device until April 30, after that I can register. I thought wtf is this hence contacted social media team, they replied same thing after few hours. 1000017626.webp I had never seen such issues. What kind of security measure amazon pay team follows which no other apps follow? Now I don't even know whether I will be able to register after 30th April or not. Anyone from the community faced similar issue earlier?

Edit (1st May) - Now when I try to register, there's a different error, "Device not supported" due to security concerns. What the! 1000017842.webp

Facing same issues recently bought oneplus 13s
Even in 13s? Wow! Oneplus says it's due to some internal restrictions in amazon and they have urgently told amazon to fix this. Surprisingly it has been so long, multiple models from different brands are facing the issue and Amazon hasn't done anything despite having less than 1% upi market share.

I reported the issue to Amazon, and they raised a complaint. They told me to wait 48 hours. Now, when I try to register UPI again, I'm getting this error:

"Device verification on hold. Device verification temporarily unavailable while we strengthen account protection. You'll be notified when it's complete."

I don’t know what kind of drama this is. Whether UPI works or not, they should at least verify for wallet transactions. Because of this, even that isn’t happening.

They only provide a timeline for name-sake and then extend it indefinitely but there's no solution available with their support. The problem is something deep, since April it's going on.

Thinking of reporting to RBI ombudsman (People have reported different technical issues like upi number not getting enabled in gpay etc. and it was resolved after ombudsman complaint). At least somebody higher will know what's happening inside amazon. If there's a way, will try to raise it at NPCI as well.

Simple solution is try a payment wid amazon upi it will start registration. Amazon app has problem.u can't add more dan 5 account. U cant remove account if u add 5 account. If u want to remove u hv to deregister and register again.

The issue I posted in original thread is different. They have restricted few device models from registering. The things you've mentioned could have been an issue but mine is different. Few device models are completely blocked from registering Amazon pay upi and wallet upi, as per device manufacturer only Amazon can fix this. 1000024200.webp

I think you were successful because your error message was slightly different. You saw "Device verification on hold", in my case it's "Device not supported due to security concerns". That could be the reason the hold was upheld and you could register. It's surprising that few device models are completely blocked since 2-3 months and they've done nothing.
