[Advice Needed] 50K Salary, Best Way to Apply for HDFC Credit Card – No Prior Relationship

Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice on the best way to apply for an HDFC credit card. Here's my profile:
  • Monthly Salary: ₹50,000
  • Current Job: Just joined this month (first job)
  • First Salary Slip: Will receive it next week
  • Current Residence: PG in Bangalore
  • Existing Cards:
  • Amazon Pay ICICI with ₹1.2L limit
  • 3 Axis Bank cards (₹15K limit, planning limit increase after 2 salary slips)
I tried applying online for HDFC and it asked me to upload income proof—either a salary slip or an existing credit card statement. I do have the Amazon Pay ICICI card with a good limit but no salary slip just yet.

My Questions:

  1. What’s the best method to apply?
Should I wait for my salary slip and apply online, or visit a branch and try C2C (card-to-card) application with my Amazon Pay ICICI?
  2. If I apply online, should I upload my ICICI card statement for C2C or wait and upload salary slip?
  3. Is living in a PG a problem for approval?
  4. Which card to go for first: I see the Swiggy LTF option in the app, but I’m more interested in a core card like Millennia or DCP, especially since I’m planning to buy a laptop soon and want to use HDFC offers.
  5. What are my chances of approval given:
    • CIBIL: 781
    • Experian: 800
    • Good limit on ICICI
    • New job (but income is decent for starter card)
Appreciate any suggestions, especially if someone has recently been in a similar situation. Would love to get an HDFC card soon for upcoming purchases.

Thanks in advance!
