🆘 Need Guidance: Flipkart Axis Credit Card Cancelled Due to “Non-Personal Usage” — What’s My Next Step?

Hi TF community,

Today (18th June 2025), I received an unexpected and disappointing email from Axis Bank saying that my Flipkart Axis Credit Card (XX2915) has been cancelled due to suspected non-personal or commercial usage, with all cashback revoked and existing EMIs foreclosed.

They’ve cited transactions between 01-Feb-2025 and 30-Apr-2025, mostly from Flipkart.

Context:

* I spent around ₹5 lakhs during this period
* Nearly 90% of orders were delivered to just 3 addresses (mine and my brothers’)
* All purchases were for personal/family use – gadgets, gifts, household items, etc. No reselling or business usage
* Axis has now asked me to upload invoices or proof within 30 days

One more thing:
I had raised an ombudsman complaint earlier in April regarding a separate unresolved issue with Axis. That complaint is still open, and I have been waiting for resolution for over a year. I’m beginning to think this action might also be related to that escalation, though I can’t be sure.

Need expert guidance:

1. How should I proceed with Axis on this? Should I respond or escalate?
2. Has anyone else faced this kind of closure?
3. Should I contact the nodal officer or RBI CMS?
4. Will this impact my credit score or future card eligibility with Axis?

Appreciate any help or experience shared. Thanks in advance.

– Nandha Kumar

Edit

I have sent 53 invoices and 1 pdf containing all invoices list from last 3 months to them on 25th jun 2025. It took me 4 hrs to compile. Around 8k cashback is on hold with them. Let's hope for the best.

Can you play with them with such logic? Big family, festival spends, multiple addresses, FLIPKART CC, single merchant. The next step is to escalate this matter to the RBI.

Update: Got this final response from Axis Bank today.

They've officially refused to reinstate the card or release the cashback, citing non-personal use due to multiple Flipkart transactions delivered under different names and addresses.

As I mentioned earlier, I had already submitted all 53 invoices, explained the situation in detail, and even offered to clarify any specific transactions. Still, they’ve chosen to close the matter citing internal ombudsman approval.

Cashback of around 7800 is also being withheld. A few Grabdeals based cashback benefits are stuck too.

Attached the mail for reference.

Out of 53 transaction
31 are below 1000rs
13 are between 1000 and 5000
Remaining are above

What to do next? Experts please help me out on how to proceed further.

I sent the below reply to them. And informed on call the same. He kept repeating same shit like multiple electronic items. Multiple addresses and all.

I just asked one question. I am saying that these transactions are of my personal use. What proofs you need to believe that?

As expected no answer. He told he will check with backend team and get back.

Let's see.

The reply mail

Dear PNO,

Thank you for your response regarding the closure of my Flipkart Axis Credit Card ending with xxxx.

I am writing once again with a sincere and humble request to reconsider the decision and allow me the opportunity to explain the situation personally over a phone call. I believe this issue may be the result of a misunderstanding, and I would greatly appreciate a chance to clarify the context directly.

Transaction Pattern & Spending Behaviour
Between March and June 2025, I made 53 transactions on Flipkart using this credit card. Out of these:

44 transactions were below ₹5000, and
31 were below ₹1000
These are small-ticket, everyday purchases — certainly not indicative of commercial or resale activity.
The major reason for these purchases is my recent shift from full-time work-from-home to hybrid work mode from my Bangalore office.
I needed to buy work-related accessories, clothing, essentials, and home setup items, which explains the increased number of small, personal-use transactions during this period.

Transparent Documentation & Good Faith Submission
I submitted all 53 invoices across five emails (due to attachment limits), along with a structured transaction summary mapping each purchase.
All orders were placed through my personal Flipkart account linked to 8667494909 (my Axis-registered number).
I spent multiple days compiling this documentation to ensure full transparency, because these were genuinely personal expenses.
I am still willing to:

Share product images
Resend any invoice in higher resolution
Provide clarification for specific transactions, if needed
Address & Name Variations Explained
I reside at multiple locations and travel frequently due to work and personal commitments.
Some deliveries were addressed to family members or in their name only to ensure receipt when I wasn’t available to collect.
Every transaction was paid by me, and I have never shared or lent this card or used it for any business/commercial purpose.

My Request
I have had a trusted relationship with Axis Bank for over 4 years and have always used my credit cards responsibly.

I respectfully request:

A callback from your team so I can explain my usage pattern and clear any doubts.
Guidance on what additional documents or information the Bank would require to resolve this matter.
You may reach me at xxxx at your convenience.
I trust Axis Bank to consider this request with fairness and understanding, as I have made every effort to cooperate transparently and in good faith.

Looking forward to your response and a call soon.

Warm regards,
