🆘 Need Guidance: Flipkart Axis Credit Card Cancelled Due to “Non-Personal Usage” — What’s My Next Step?

Gownandha

TF Buzz
Hi TF community,

Today (18th June 2025), I received an unexpected and disappointing email from Axis Bank saying that my Flipkart Axis Credit Card (XX2915) has been cancelled due to suspected non-personal or commercial usage, with all cashback revoked and existing EMIs foreclosed.

They’ve cited transactions between 01-Feb-2025 and 30-Apr-2025, mostly from Flipkart.

Context:

* I spent around ₹5 lakhs during this period
* Nearly 90% of orders were delivered to just 3 addresses (mine and my brothers’)
* All purchases were for personal/family use – gadgets, gifts, household items, etc. No reselling or business usage
* Axis has now asked me to upload invoices or proof within 30 days

One more thing:
I had raised an ombudsman complaint earlier in April regarding a separate unresolved issue with Axis. That complaint is still open, and I have been waiting for resolution for over a year. I’m beginning to think this action might also be related to that escalation, though I can’t be sure.

Need expert guidance:

1. How should I proceed with Axis on this? Should I respond or escalate?
2. Has anyone else faced this kind of closure?
3. Should I contact the nodal officer or RBI CMS?
4. Will this impact my credit score or future card eligibility with Axis?

Appreciate any help or experience shared. Thanks in advance.

– Nandha Kumar

1. How should I proceed with Axis on this? Should I respond or escalate?
First respond.

2. Has anyone else faced this kind of closure?
With non-perosnal usage many ofc

3. Should I contact the nodal officer or RBI CMS?
Wait till you respond and resolve this first, then let them know your mental agony

4. Will this impact my credit score or future card eligibility with Axis?
You can't trust Axis on this, can you? The cancellation of CC may affect the credit score.

If these are for PURELY PERSONAL USE of yourself and your own family members, subit the relative invoices n even photos showing that those items are being used by you n your family members - AND not involved in any business or commercial activity.

The other case may not be connected to this case - most likely n most probably.

Btw, what was the limit on this flipkart card ? Is it so low that a cumulative 5L looks too huge - that too over 3 months ?

This is a great solution, send the pictures of the products being used, make videos showing matching serial numbers on the invoices and the products, that strengthen your case.

Make the outstanding payments to your card, and escalate this to PNO with all the proofs. Post that, you can move to RBI if appropriate resolution is not provided, and seek compensation if you wish.

If the purchases were genuine, I don't think you need to fret. Just send the order invoices and maybe even include a picture of those products in your possession (if you have them) to be safe.

Did you over-purchase (make purchases over the credit limit and repaid it back to release the credit for use in the same month, regularly)? This can trigger red flags as far as I know.

I wonder how much was your income mentioned in that card's application ? If you had taken the card - as a student with no income or with negligible income (when compared to 5L), then NONE CAN question Axis's action. RBIO will not interfere.

I have a hunch that Axis has more data/info on these trxns than what is being discussed here.

Not for nothing, Axis would lose a customer - that too for a flipkart card - and that too for running a bill of 5L in 3 months.

Complete picture needs tp be shared.

Even my friend got the same sms.
He used to buy gold coins for investment purpose. Now the question is even I used my card for gold coin purchases but I didn't get this SMS. So if i close the card now even then will I get such sms to revoke the cashback?

Some of my friends got Gold coins for personal purposes and their cards got cancelled. Later on both submitted their wedding documents, income documents and gold exchange photographs and one case is closed by reactivating card and other case is still pending. So dont worry you're not alone in this. There are many check points where Axis flags customers transactions which cannot be understood. For now no need to escalate and submit all the necessary documents, evidences invoices as @RAMESH BABU N sir and others mentioned. Later on we can discuss how to proceed on how Axis responding.

Axis is doing these things regularly, so for now you have to submit documents.

Limit is 2.49 L.

Will mention that as well. I can send pictures if needed.

Yes. At times I did. But however my spending is slightly high this time. Usually it's 80-100k per month.

I have mentioned my income as 60-80L during application. However my salary is about 12LPA. Buy income from my inheritance is higher.

I have a hunch that this might be related to RBIO complaint I made earlier in April for 50k compensation. Still they were not able to resolve the issue.

By the way regarding responding should I respond with invoices directly or just a message now and then invoice later. What do you think.

And one more question. They revoke the cashback for this period or throughout the credit card lifetime or from this date to today??

thanks all for the support

1. Respond with proofs if all those are personal, nothing to be worry.. they even ask for BigBasket 2k groceries, u should deal with them, no other way.
2. --> saw multiple posts but it depends on person to person.
3. there is click here in your mail, check that. otherwise start with nodal and ask them why your cards closed without you giving any permission, if they told this reason and ask documents, upload it. But you can avoid by using click here button.
4. No (for both cases), unless this is the only card u have, ur other cards will perform the CIBIL duty from now onwards.

Note: RBIO may not help, because as per TnCs they can issue or close the card. You can try, we may never know.

When this happened and how long this case is going on?
1. February 2025, Case closed in May 2025

2. March 2025. Case us till pending.

Both cases transactions are in the range of 7-8L their credit limit is around 4-5L.
