In March 2025, I applied for the Regalia Forex Card and opted for a non-personalised card. Immediately after submitting my application, I received a message instructing me to collect the card from the nearest HDFC branch. I visited the branch, collected the Forex Kit, and activated it as per the instructions received via email.
However, after activation, I discovered that the card inside the kit had already expired in 2024. The next day, I received an SMS stating that the forex card could not be loaded, followed by a message informing me that the application had been declined and the transaction had been reversed by HDFC.
Following this incident, I applied again for the same Forex Card. This time, when I collected the kit, I noticed that it clearly mentioned the card's expiry date on the packaging. Interestingly, the earlier kit I had received did not display any expiry date. This indicated that the issue was not due to human error but a system failure on HDFC’s part.
I reported the issue to customer care and requested compensation of ₹10,000. The matter was forwarded to the BM, who later contacted me and explained that since there was no financial loss, compensation could not be offered. However, the BM did provide a written apology. I then escalated the matter to the PNO, but did not receive any response.
Subsequently, I filed a complaint with the RBIO, requesting compensation of ₹20,000. In response, I received another email from the BM stating that corrective measures had been implemented to avoid such incidents in the future, but compensation would still not be provided. At this point, and after reading some user experiences on TF, I assumed the matter was closed and no compensation would be awarded.
To my surprise, today I received an SMS stating that ₹50,000 had been credited to my account. Upon checking the transaction details, I found it was related to my RBIO complaint.

RBIO truly made my day! 🙂

In a similar kind of normal credit card rejwcrion case, i received a lousy reponse from. bank even aftwr meeting all the criteria and even as per rbi rules they have to specifically specify the reason for rejevtion when asked, which the bank failed to do.

Is this a valid enough ground for me to now approach RBIO since i recieved a crappy reply from. bank.
Yes. There's a thread by @SJM. Please check that out.

Here is the link

Can you share the closure mail from RBIO?
With reference to your complaint against HDFC Bank, comments were sought from the RE. It is observed that there is deficiency in the part of the bank for issuing a defective/expired card without proper due diligence to the customer, and thereby subjecting the customer to harassment, wastage of time and mental agony. In view of above, bank was advised by RBIO to pay compensation of Rs 50,000 to the customer for the above deficiencies. In compliance to the RBIO Advisory dated 11.07.2025, the bank has credited the compensation amount of Rs. 50,000/- to the customer’s account number XXXXXX on 15.07.2025. In view of the above, complaint is treated as resolved and closed.

Today received the closure mail from CMS portal.

Great happy for you.
This is unnecessary I feel.
I would have stopped after BM apology.
There was no much inconvenience.
50k for this OMG.
At this rate, in coming days, i fear even rbio complaints will be less efficient.

Well, I think having to reapply and again visit the branch just to collect the new card is inconvenient. I don't remember when I had visited branch for any other regular need.
Further, bank issuing expired card is not normal. It could be catastrophic for someone who had immediate travel plans.
I've clearly mentioned that it wasn't a human error but a system failure. There was no marking from which anyone could tell the expiry date of card. So whoever issued the kit was genuinely not at fault. Hence, I had escalated the issue.
At first I only asked for 10K compensation from bank. Later in my RBIO complaint I asked for 20K compensation. RBIO wouldn't have bothered if this was a petty issue. I haven't came across any other cases where the compensation awarded was more than the compensation sought.

Hello All, I raised request to HDFC priority redressal to upgrade my current TNI LTF to Regalia gold on 23rd Jun. On 26th Jun they replied asking the 3M Payslips and statement of salary deposit account which i provided on the same day. My relationship with HDFC is, i am a already Imperia Salary acct holder with net 1.5L monthly salary credit. After 26th jun there was complete silence then i dropped an email asking status of my request.
They replied asking Jun month payslip on 7th july, same day i provided the payslip and again complete silence from their side. Mind you every time they reply they close old ticket and open new one.
Can i wait till 23rd July(1 month from initial request) and complain to RBIO?

I guess there's a thread where people have mentioned that HDFC has temporarily stopped taking upgrade requests. This might be the reason they're not replying. You can always escalate to PNO. I think you should file a complaint with RBIO only after escalating to PNO.

@Avatar Aang @SJM I too requested for Credit Limit Enhancement to HDFC for my Regalia Gold CC. Last I received enhancement was in March 2025 for only 3k. Total Credit Limit on my card 7.11 L. I sent the first mail to Grievance Redressal CC on June 2nd & they kept me running pillar to post till July 5th.
After taking my last 3 months salary slips & Bank Statements, HDFC PNO refused me any credit limit enhancement.
Meanwhile I complained to RBIO on 3rd July for the same. How do I proceed next & what should be my next steps? PNO team is very much aware of my RBIO complaint but they are paying no attention to it and have refused straightaway to increase any credit limit.
I am an Imperia Account holder with HDFC Salary Account (>2L net salary credit).
I have also spent around 7L in last 6 months on my Regalia Gold card , so don't understand if net salary is the only criteria they are considering for limit enhancement refusal.
Please suggest & guide me on my next steps so that they increase my Credit Limit. What reply should I send them so that they provide me limit enhancement?

Rbi can't do anything this is sole interest of bank to increase limit or decrease.

Tbh, giving someone a credit card, increasing limit, decreasing limit, etc. are business decisions and RBIO probably won't be able to help you in this case. Do update the status after closure. Would love to increase the limit on my card too.

It is a business decision of the bank and RBIO has no say over it.

Can anyone please tell from when RBI calculates actual date like here example -

Complaint with bank regarding wrong cibil enquiry on 1 July. Then no response.
Then, again sent reminder on 7 July. No response.
Then, again on 14 July sent reminder.
Then on 15 I was asked for CIBIL REPORT by the bank.
I had shared it on 17.
Now no response from bank till one month.
Sent reminder on 17 August. No response.
Again sent reminder on 17 September. Response came on 18 September that CIBIL report is corrected.

So here compensation is applicable from which date.
