Yes Bank Reserv + 3X Subscription Plan

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a new card to complement my Infinia. The main goal is to increase the rewards rate for a few lakhs of donations towards NGOs (both Indian and International). BOGO on movies, and rewards on rental and UPI transactions will be great to have but not necessary.

I recently came across the YES Reserv card, along with the 3X subscription offer for all spends. The following is how I see the reward rates:
  • 9% Points on Online Shopping (except on Select categories)**
  • 4.5% Points on Offline Shopping (except on Select categories)
  • 2.25% Points on Select categories
Assuming 25 paise per RP redemption rate, for flights and hotels.

The 9% rewards rate seems just too good to be true. Can anyone confirm? If it is indeed true, then why is this not the most talked about card for Forex transactions?

P.S: I don't mind paying the annual fee given the rewards.

I tried lot of permutations and after discussing with customer care, I have reached the conclusion that I got 1x points (6/200 for select and 12/200 for online) and Card feature of Bonus 12/200 points for online transactions properly for whole statement cycle. Only issue is regarding 2x Subscription Bonus points (2x is 12/200 for select, 24/200 for online).

So, for the 2x bonus points, If I include 2x for one transaction that was done one week before subscription (ideally we should get points post subscription starts, but maybe that's their logic that they check transactions for whole month irrespective of subscription starts date) and Exclude all transactions of 31st January and Exclude 1 transaction of 30th January (there were many transactions on 30th, but excluding only 1), then it matches my credits.

I don't have any justification for why they are excluding only 1 transaction of 30th. There is a possibility that they are considering settlement date here, but then if I remember correctly, most of 30th Jan transactions settled on 1st February, so all of them should have been excluded. I will confirm next month, after bonus 2x points for these missing transactions gets credited.

Customer care didn't had breakup for 2x points, so I wasn't able to verify it. He told to call after 3-4 days, as statement is just generated and details have not come yet. I have anyway mailed them for the same. Let's see what happens 😉.

In short, avoid transaction on last 2 days of month to avoid any sort of confusion in bonus points calculations.

P.S. 36000 limit on 24/200 category is calculated only on card bonus 12 points, so transaction limit per statement cycle is 6L instead of 3L. I did just over 3L transaction and I got just over 18K bonus points. So, u can get potentially 36K regular and 36K card bonus and 72K subscription bonus on spend of 6L online spends per statement.
After checking with customer care and getting the Excel sheet for reward points breakup from them, I got a slightly different calculation. So, few corrections here.

For one of my transaction on Amazon on 30th January, I received Card bonus of 12/200 and 24/200 subscription bonus. But 12/200 base points are missing. Do note that these base points were showing in netbanking after settlement and still somehow it got missing in final Excel sheet. I have asked customer care to credit the same.

One more thing is for transactions which are reversed, but refund amount is slightly different. They only reverse base points and subscription bonus points. Card bonus points are retained.

With these two changes, I can say there is no subscription points for transaction done before subscription date. All transactions (except those which are reversed) from subscription date till 30th January (settled by 31st) are having subscription bonus points. It seems YES BANK settle transactions next day itself. Subscription points for All transactions of 31st January (settled in 1st Feb) will be credited in March statement.

Can some one tell me best travel credit cards and not with miles. Because I only travel with in south of India, only indigo is available for most of the places and it doesn't participate in any cards miles program. So would like to know which is the best card to collect reward points and spend on flight booking (not thru miles)

Fyi Im not eligible for infinia yet

Hello, Got approved for Reserv FYF, didn't see any 40k spend requirement for FYF in the application process. Supposed to receive it today. Can anyone share the closure team email which can help make it LTF? Over here or on DM.

After reading the discussion here and keeping in mind my usecase, not really convinced to activate it unless they make it LTF.
hey did you get any updates on this? I am thinking to go to the branch and apply for the card, let's see if they have any such offers.

You can book flights with yes reserv cc. Take 5x subscription along with it.

Not the OP, but I sent an email, requesting conversion of Reserv to LTF from FYF or I will close the card.

Closure team called me, confirmed my request and then converted it into LTF in 3 days.
What e-mail did you use? I sent an email on the CC closure id and they denied saying it's a 'prized' card. Have escalated to grievance cell. Let's see.

It is not worth paying the joining fee and annual fee and it does not give any worthwhile return without 3x 5x

You need to only buy air tickets with the points of Yes Reserv 3x or 5x in order to get 6% or 9% return. And I anyway get 24% return on air tickets
If you use the points to buy Amazon pay, the returns drop by 60% to only 2.4% and 3.6% respectively

This is giving on travel mcc also 4722 which is used by most of the booking apps unlike atlas which gives only on airlines and Lodgings mcc which none of the booking apps use
The booking apps give 10% discount on various credit cards which is more than 9% given by Yes Reserv 5x.
And don't forget to also consider the expense of 5900 on the subscription fee

Example
Option A
Buy Airtickets on Cleartrip or MakeMyTrip with 10% discount using various credit cards--

1) Buy one return air ticket of 50000 with 10% discount
Pay 45000+1500 convenience fee

2) Buy 2nd return air ticket of 50000 with 10% discount
Pay 45000+1500 convenience fee
Total expense for two return air tickets is 93,000
Pay ZERO subscription fee and still get the BEST VALUE

Option B
Buy Airtickets on Cleartrip or MakeMyTrip with 0% discount using Yes Reserv 5x in order to get 9% return.

1) Buy one return air ticket of 50000 with 0% discount
Pay 50000+1500 convenience fee, get points worth 4,635 to be used for next air ticket which has to be bought on the Yes Bank portal ONLY, without any discount.

2) Buy 2nd return air ticket of 50000 on Yes Bank portal
Pay 50000-4635+0 convenience fee.
I am assuming that there is zero convenience fee on Yes Bank portal, otherwise the cost will be higher
Total expense for two return air tickets is 96865.
Also include 5900 subscription fee already paid which cannot be reimbursed.

Option C
Buy Airtickets on Yes Bank portal with 0% discount using Yes Reserv 5x in order to get 9% return.

1) Buy one return air ticket of 50000 with 0% discount
Pay 50000+0 convenience fee, get points worth 4,500 to be used for next air ticket which has to be bought on the Yes Bank portal ONLY, without any discount.
I am assuming that there is zero convenience fee on Yes Bank portal, otherwise the cost will be higher

Pay 50000-4500+0 convenience fee.

Total expense for two return air tickets is 95500

With all credit cards of all banks, the number of points required to buy Rs. 1000 Amazon pay voucher is the true indicator of the real intrinsic value of the points.
Because Amazon pay voucher can be used to pay for almost everything. (quasi cash).
So it is the benchmark (with the lowest discounting).

Your option B ignores some important facts. All portals have bank agnostic discount coupons available that can be used with any payment method. While the bank specific discounts are often higher at 12-15%, but you can easily get 8-10% on random coupons, and that added with the 9% return is great value.

I also have an Atlas and Magnus(not burgundy though). But I have maxed out my atlas milestones in 6 months, so for the rest of the year, I think this is a pretty good substitute. Will happily return to Atlas next year onwards if they don't devalue it.
