Ease of opening a BSBDA

I visited all the banks available in my city.
Asking to open a zero balance account (BSBDA). To my surprise except idfc first bank all other banks denied having a zero balance account. Only when I threatened them to give me in writing or I'll have to involve RBI in this then they said yes there is this account but we don't usually open that anymore.
ICICI being the worst they didn't agree to open the account even when I left the branch.
I know the BSBDA account has many restrictions but what banks are doing is wrong. If RBI has given a option then why are banks not forwarding it?
 
I asked almost every popular bank In India to let me open a BSBDA account, but everyone said there’s no such thing called BSBDA in our bank especially HDFC(I asked in different branches & cities) even idfc bank refused to give me a BSBDA account, Only PNB allowed me to convert my regular account to PMJDY acc.
A subtle mention of RBI would've got you a bsbda account in any bank

Most banks including some PSBs will even refuse to acknowledge existence of basic savings account. Tell them you know the RBI's guideline and threaten to complain, it usually should work. If they still don't budge, shoot a mail to their customer care highlighting 'denial of service'. In rare cases you may have to escalate to NO level, by then they usually fall into place and their tone changes and some may even act like you're opening a HNI account with them.
You mean HNI account? :) :) :)

Well, if the service employee refuses to open it, approach the branch head. Say it is a RBI mandated account an every branch of every bank must open it. That usually works.

In rare cases if you must have to escalate, say branch is refusing to open savings account of this type and add a link to RBI circulars regarding BSBDA. That'll do.

Don't reach RBI directly. If manager denies reach their social media team and share your contact details. After that see magic.

I don't have bsdba account in yes bank..
Op is asking for rupay platinum dc, so i told him about yes bank..

Yes bank bsbda account give free rupay platinum dc..
Finally got a hold of the Branch person.

Apparently the account code has to be requested by the branch to be available and get activated on their PCs. i.e. Not all products are activated on all branch systems. Seems plausible as they had all the

So, they've sent that request and it was to come back, quite a few times. Still not so. Awaiting.

I had also emailed to several YB email address / PNO etc on 28th Dec (pre holiday weekend). Got only auto ack email response so far, how long should we expect to wait till they respond.

i'll wait till next week and then start to look for escalation email addresses. (saw some on another place).

I was travelling my bad i couldnt focus on this issue and now i have a lot of pending work to do. Only after that ill catch up on this
