I hold following bank accounts

  1. ICICI Bank (Savings) - For salary crediting and investments
  2. IDFC First Bank (Savings) - for savings purposes, it gives good rate of interest.
  3. DBS - Idk why I am still holding this.
  4. Paytm Payments Bank - Had opened it long back, not sure why I am holding this too.
  5. Fi.money - For day to day transactions as my primary savings account would get cluttered with few hundred rupees transactions.
  6. Jupiter - Had opened alongside with Fi, thinking to close this.

    • Exclusive - Got under offer with 0 MAB & Savings
  6. AU - Rupay Platinum DC for Apay offer
  7. RBL - Don't know.
  8. SBI - Savings & Govt Schemes like PPF
  9. BoB - 0 MAB and secondary Govt Bank Account.
  10. Paytm Payment Bank - Day to day UPI transactions.
  11. Airtel Payments Bank - Don't know why.
Also I don't keep fund's above 5L in any account except SBI, to be on safe side under DICGC insurance cover.

Will eventually close AU, RBL, ICICI Regular & Airtel once the purpose is accomplished.
I was told that at ICICI, once your account gets upgraded to Wealth/Private all your other accounts too get upgraded automatically as the accounts are linked to the same customer id.

How come you're able to maintain two different variants? And for long have you been able to hold them?

Thank you @HyperBeast

Paytm Payments Bank - Don’t know why? I asked them to close but they didn’t respond.
Kotak 811 - As primary account. Savings and FD ladder.
Federal Bank Excel - For UPI transactions (where BHIM cannot take on credit card). Usually I keep 0 balance here. When I have to do a UPI transaction, I transfer from my primary account (Kotak 811) to this account.
SBI - For inward remittance. Credit of any kind of income. Usually 0 balance. As soon as payment hits this account, I transfer the whole balance to my primary account.
UPI transaction on PNB Select Credit Card through BHIM
Don’t keep any cash in the wallet or at home.
All expenses through Credit Card or UPI.

The older account also gets upgraded to wealth but debit card remains the same unless you ask for debit card upgrade specifically

Federal - Auto-closed 😌
Finally feeling organized now that the clutter is gone.

Axis Prestige - Salary
HDFC Regular - Spending/UPI
ICICI Silver - Investments and PPF
IDFC Signature - Emergency funds (24 months worth) for high liquidity. Also, a decent interest of 4% is paid monthly. Thinking of spitting 50% into some FDs.

Saraswat Bank - The oldest account, created by my parents when I was in school. Thinking of closing but the branch is very close by.
SBM Bank - Got created when testing out Vested. Deep regrets will be closing soon.
Federal Bank - Got created when testing out Jupiter. Deep regrets will be closing soon.
Airtel Bank - Created for 50rs cashback long ago for one use only 🤦‍♂️, will be closing soon.

Account Type

Paytm Payments BankNA
  • For all UPI transactions
  • Any quick fund transfers as they show the account holder's name before transfer. Helps with verification!!
ICICI BankSilverInvestments
Kotak Mahindra BankSoloOld salary account. As I live in a non-serviceable area for their credit cards, and zero pre-approved offers, moved my salary account to SBI a few months ago

I actually went to close the account but the banker suggested that I could convert it to the Solo variant which offers zero-balance privilege. Felt it was good advice and took it!
SBISilverHad this account for several years but made it a salary account recently just to maintain a healthy relationship with the country's largest PSU bank. Can't get it converted to a salary variant as the company has no relationship with the bank :(

No major benefits as of now - even the account is a Silver savings account despite maintaining a good balance. I wonder if their auto-upgrade even works!

BoB - salary account
SBI - DEMAT account
IDFC - I have a zero-balance old account. The type is now discontinued, but mine remains zero-balance, so keeping it open. I'm also going to use it as my "credit card payment account".
Equitas - opened recently, attracted by high interest - and trying to get a high-limit Elegance card if possible

I'm likely to close Equitas first as they don't even let you schedule payments (for free), which makes it useless as credit card payment account for me.
