ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

Redemption on iShop Portal

You can redeem your credit card reward points on the iShop portal.

The value of credit and debit card reward points depends on the card you hold. For example, with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card, 1 reward point = ₹1.

Redemption Options:

  • Flight Booking: You can pay 100% of the order value using reward points.
  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = ₹1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

We do get the refund according to the cancellation fee terms of the booking. I got one third amount back as the refund. But I was hoping that they will give the accelerated reward points on the remaining two third of the amount, which they have mentioned that they won't.
I don't understand this logic you paid by points or mix points plus cash. On cancellation part is adjusted to cancellation charges and remaining refunded to you. Which part you are expecting accelerated points? Do you mean you paid by card and amount adjusted in cancellation charges should earn accelerated points? Well if that is case there is a valid point but these terms are specific only if you complete travel your earn accelerated points.

I paid only by card, no points were used. That's why I was expecting the points on the non-refunded part. Earlier I used to book via Atlas/Traveledge, there if I would have done this, I would have gotten the points, but iShop requires the travel to be completed for accelerated points it seems.

So If I do a fully refundable hotel booking via Ishop using points and cancel it later, will I not be getting my points back even though the booking was fully refundable?
If it's fully refundable then it won't be an issue hotels usually aren't an issue, we are talking about flights which don't come with a fully refundable fare. Doest matter if you pay with points or cash if its refundable you will get it back

Usually these are based on settlement date.
they should not be in my opinion as if any contradiction happened, we should refer to the card statement and it mentions the transaction date not settlement date.

if i do a transaction at 11:55 Pm on 1st july then another on 2nd july 2 AM. 1st July transaction rewards should not be counted in daily cap of 2nd july if so in that case what will happen if you do a transaction on last date of month will those reward points will be calculated for next month quota?

Thanks.

It is on txn date basis and not settlement date basis. Have experienced this multiple times

How did you check this ?
In my case, I did a certain transaction on the last date of qtr to meet the quarterly spending criteria for milestone reward. However, I was refused the reward, citing that txn was settled next day (effectively in next qtr) so it would be counted towards next qtr only.

You should file a complaint if they count based on settlement dat then any transaction you do on the last day of the month before statement generation. It should not be counted in the bill but you get charged interest on it if you do not pay it in same billing cycle. As I said the date mentioned in statement is the date even regulator authority will see.

Well.. I did not really comprehend your point except for the complaint part.

If your statement date is 10th then your bill be presented to you on 11th. Any transaction done on 10th will not appear on that statement (infact many a time even transaction done on 9th also don't appear in that bill). They will appear in next month statement. And No, you dont have to pay any fee as long as you are paying bill before due date irrespective of when the transaction was done and when it was settled.

Technically you are right regarding complaint. from customers point of view, they have done the transaction and should get rewards according to that only. It is not customer's responsibility when the bank is settling those transactions.

Bob Eterna card clearly mentions that only settled transactions will be considered for the period.

My ICICI bill is getting generated on 2nd of every month and i am billed for transaction done on 1st of every month so its counted based on transaction date that was my point & every time the bill was available on 3rd or 4th of month,. suppose someone bill gets generated on 1st of month, they will count all transaction till last date of last month.

Clearly bank take benefit of no concrete guideline on these matters by RBI.
