Don’t you think it’s a big gamble? Like, what if someday you move to a new city for work or whatever, and suddenly Jio’s network there is trash, then you’ll have to port to the other one… Chortel 😏. I keep overthinking these things.
Most likely NO in my case, either I will be in Hyderabad or in Sydney...

Same with CIBIL subscriptions, stacking them up for 5+ years is literally the dumbest move. One fine morning the govt. might just roll out some new rule saying banks and FIs should follow a new govt. backed credit bureau instead of TransUnion CIBIL (because this issue has been raised earlier in the parliament before the FM), and poof, all that subscription money down the drain. Plus, we already get enough free refreshes anyway.
No..
It is not govt that takes calls in this case, it is the banks that take these calls.. even now very few banks folkow experian / other bureaus...
And also it is not about who follows whom..it is about what was reported to the bureaus and cibil currently implements most accurate and regularly updated bureau... nad our job is to find out what is being reported to the bureaus and rectify it asap if something is wrong...

So why does everyone follow CIBIL? not CRIF or Experian etc etc.... What if the govt. mandates the banks to follow some new central credit bureau if they decide to. I mean the govt. has too much power isn't it?

Some small risk has to be taken. You can’t be so afraid and paranoid about a few thousand Rupees. It’s not like you are investing all your life’s savings and it would bankrupt you.

Yes, you are right..
That's why I stacked it up for the next 6 years or so @ ₹2,999...
😉

I am only following the simple logic.. the prices are only going to go uppppp..
They already went up from 3k to 3.6k since i last recharged about one year ago...

Good move. Even I have stacked Airtel for nearly 2 years which is the maximum allowed. I generally don’t use Jio unless there is no other option.

I understand but my views are a bit conservative in this regard. But that is a great insight which @SSV sir just gave. Also I believe not everyone can spare so much capital all at once due to our day to day expenses and obligations we ought to meet.

I have a suggestion go to Ireland on a student visa. Get a degree, work there, get citizenship and then get a Pak Visa 😛
No need. I have 3 citizenships from other developed countries but they look at place of birth, citizenship of parents and even grandparents. Last time, I applied, they even checked on the citizenship of my wife as well as any other citizenship held by her. I had to provide even passport details for my parents. So, your suggestion would make it a little better but it remains difficult. Now they have a visa on arrival as well as eVisa but it’s not allowed for foreign citizens of Indian origin, unfortunately. India has the same policy towards them and they sort of reciprocate.

3 citizenships... wow

I have two numbers:

1) Jio - primary..stacked for 6 years..
This number used to be on BSNL, a couple of years ago I migrated it to Jio .

2) Airtel- secondary - stacked for 2 years (maximum allowed)..

Yes i saw somewhere that new Airtel users are not eligible for the axis card cashback is that true?

Was planning to port jio to Airtel
You'll get the cashback, but one downside I faced in chortel is basically, as soon as your pack expires, you stop receiving incoming SMS & calls. Personally this was a deal breaker to me. I ported from Jio to chortel, experienced this bs and then ported back to Jio, because ironically 1 day my pack expired and for the recharge to go through using the axshit chortel cc I would have needed an OTP, which I wasn't receiving as the pack expired, so missed on the cash back, had to process the recharge through UPI; Plus with chortel you can't call a lot of bank's customer care numbers. You would need to recharge with separate voice and talk-time kinda packs like in the old days. Personally I have 2 numbers, and recharge them alternatively. In Jio I recharge 1 number for 84 days and then as soon as it expires, I recharge the other for another 84 days. In this way I keep both numbers active, because I don't exceed the 90 day period boss. Once you exceed the 90 day period without recharge on your number, you have good chances of losing out your number. So I at all times get Incoming calls and SMS in Jio on both my numbers (1 active + 1 inactive (no recharge) at all times) which I believe is the main reason of even keeping a phone at the first place, that one should receive a call/text.

Consider all these points before porting & don't be penny wise and pound foolish like me & then eventually come back to Jio.

I think they start giving 3 days Grace period for incoming

At least not in my Kolkata Circle. As soon as pack expires, you receive no OTP and Calls here. This is what I personally experienced at least. No Bank OTP received for trx. No calls received.

I was a clown, I ported all 5 of my family sims to chortel, and faced this issue and then ported all 5 back to Jio. In the greed of cashback, I lost a lot of money in porting fees, like FRC which are actually not the best packs to recharge with.

Even the chortel guy who ported my connections to Chortel, lied to me saying that Incoming is never stopped. Beware of these fraudsters. I am never going back to chortel.

Is there a TRAI rule which states incoming calls and SMS to be functional till 90 days? Isn't it applicable to Chortel ?

There is no such TRAI Rule. TRAI rule is that if the number has not been recharged for over 90 days , telecom operators may discontinue your prepaid connection, i.e., your number is gone forever lala. But yes there's a grace period of 7-15 days (depending on the telecom operator's internal policies) beyond 90 days, i.e., you can pay a minimal fee of Rs. 15-50 (depending on the telecom operator's internal policies) and retrieve your discontinued number. But don't even think to go to that extent.

Chortel and We both don't provide Free incoming calls after the expiry of your active pack. I don't talk about no network yet to roll out 4g operator - BSNL....... So in all these regards Jio is the best IMO and from my personal experiences. Plus with chortel you can't call a lot of bank's customer care numbers and customer care numbers in general because those are regarded as special numbers. You would need to recharge with separate voice and talk-time kinda packs like in the old days.

So take your call wisely

Finally Jio has started deducting Rs.20 every month from my inactive sims. It's good that atleast they are following TRAI rule. Every 31st day I receive SMS of Rs.20 deduction now. Now I am sure my number wont be deactivated till balance becomes lower than Rs.20.

Will activate Rs.98_14 Days Plan Vouchers I have and then again top them up.

Not a bad deal for 1 year at Rs.240 for number retention.

Are your incoming services active? Like SMS, Calls & OTP
