ICICI Credit Card ICICI Auto Debit Return Charges for Credit Card

I hold a ICICI Rubyx credit card which had a bill amount of around 12k Rupees with the due date of Aug 7th. I cleared the bill using BBPS on Aug 7th morning and received a message from ICICI Bank that my bill was paid. When I was going through my statement a couple of days later, I noticed that the bank has levied 500+GST as Auto Debit Return charges to this card account on 8th Aug.

Now what seems to have happened is the bank tried to auto debit my ICICI bank account for the bill amount, even though my bill amount was already paid. Since I did not have enough balance(had 10k), they levied the Auto Debit Return Charges. I honestly don't even remember signing up for auto debit.

I had emailed Customer Care but they denied reversal of charges citing bank policy. What are my options now? Can this charge get reversed? Should I escalate up the escalation matrix?

If you have paid your bill within due date and auto debit failed charges will be reversed without any hassle, as you have cleared your within due date. ( It happened to me ICICI Bank and it was reversed almost instantly)

It can get reversed
If I r paying by own on an auto setup card do it a day before
Usually they run these on due dates only

Yea, it was within due date. Due date was 7th and I paid at 10 am on the 7th and got confirmation from the bank then only.
