Hi All
I'm switching companies and wanted some help on choosing a good bank account for my salary credit (~2.5L).

My main requirements are getting a CC that gives good overall returns. Spends are mainly on Food, entertainment, Travel and online shopping.

My Current CC Portfolio:
  • AMEX MRCC
  • HDFC Swiggy
  • HDFC Millenia (planning to close soon)
  • IDFC First Wealth CC
  • ICICI Amazon Pay
  • Axis Airtel Rupay
I also have the below accounts (Thanks to this forum for tricks to get this)
  • IDFC first Wealth
  • HDFC Preferred
  • Axis Burgundy
  • Indusind Pioneer
I was thinking of opening an ICICI salary acc if i'm able to get an EPM. But am conflicted with opening a HSBC Salary acc and potentially convincing them for an upgrade to premier. Please help 🙏

Axis Atlas is straight simple answer for your requirements… EPM is fine too, but they are fairly strict with 3L per month salary credit requirements

I missed the chance to get EPM as I getting paid variant and I was trying to get LTF but now after launch of iShop EPM has become more difficult to get than Infinia

In my opinion, convincing ICICI for EPM would be easier than convincing HSBC for premier.
HSBC doesnt even consider 2.99L for premier. But with ICICI many people have got it for 2.4L salary + a high TRV with ICICI.
Completely agree with this for HSBC premier..
I opened HSBC premier salary in May. My salary was not 3L but had salary hike so from July onwards it was supposed to be more than 3L.

So HSBC asked for salary slip and appraisal letter and then after confirming that salary is going to be more than 3L after hike account was opened.
Otherwise HSBC didn't buzz even with 2.88L.

Getting EPM is easier than Infinia. With > 3L net salary credit you will easily get EPM, but you won't get Infinia. Also, currently spend based upgrades to Infinia are also paused

Getting Infinia with TRV/NRV is easy now but for EPM salary is a mandatory criteria

I spoke to a sales person from HSBC. He was willing to get me HSBC premier for a salary of ~2.75+ on a condition that the company will be onboarded into HSBC (basically should not already have a tie up with HSBC). He was also willing to get me a HSBC premier CC as LTF with no joining fees

I will keep you all updated with how the talks go with ICICI

Update on talks with ICICI, The ICICI person told me that i required a 6L net salary for a EPM, I called his bluff immediately. He said he will check and get back to me. He has not called me back in a week. Looks like I will have to ask you all to share a RM who can get me a EPM at my salary

The problem with ICICI is many RMs don't even know how to apply for this card and what is the process involved. You just need to get a specialist RM who knows the process of credit cards in and out. It is a big ocean and lakhs of clueless RMs are there. They may only know one or two products that they sell everyday. Apart from that, they won't know other products. A RM who sells loans will not know credit cards and vice versa. This is the sad reality of big banks. In almost all banks it is the same.
