AMEX Platinum Travel Renewal

Currently, I’m holding AMEX Platinum Travel visit about to renew in few days, but I don’t want to continue because I am not able to spend 4L in upcoming year.

And I don’t want to close relationship with AMEX.

So now I have two option

1. I asked them for fee waiver. (I have some idea about it.)

2. Downgrade the card. (no clue at all)

If they offer me complete fee waiver, then I will continue this card, otherwise I have to downgrade.

Suggest me to which card I should downgrade

How much was your spend last year?

1. Very unlikely that they will give 100% waiver, If you had spend 4L they will either give you 50% waiver or some spend based offer.
I got 2.5L spend in 60 days offer for fee waiver last month.

2. Not sure about this but downgrading to MRCC will be a good.

They can see retention offers after the fee is charged in the statement as Unbilled.
Try after the fees is charged as unbilled.
I had a cycle of July 25 2024- July 25 2025. They informed me to call after July 25 2025

Ok I will call after 3-4 days as Period was till 14th July as far as I know.
They told me that I can close card without being charged is 8th August 2025

Today I spoke to Customer care for renewal offer. He said all renewal offers closed from 1st July onwards. I have to pay renewal fee in full
