✅ Guidance Requested: Selecting My First HDFC Credit Card Wisely

Piyush_

TF Premier
I had received a pre-approved offer from HDFC Bank in which I was offered the HDFC Diners Club Privilege, HDFC Swiggy, and HDFC Indian Oil Credit Card.

This was going to be my first HDFC credit card, and until now I hadn’t used any HDFC Bank credit card. In an attempt to be a bit too smart, I ended up applying for the co-branded Swiggy card, and it got approved with a ₹1 lakh credit limit and has already been delivered to me.

I haven’t activated it yet. Its last date for activation is 4th July 2025.

So I want to know whether I am doing the right thing or not—should I have taken a core card as my first credit card instead of a co-branded one? Because I read on forums that if you take a co-branded card as your first HDFC credit card, you might face issues later when applying for a core card.

And yes—is Diners Club Privilege definitely considered a core card?

If I don’t activate this Swiggy card, when should I apply for a core card and how long will I have to wait?

If you have any suggestions or can help, please let me know.

I have already asked about this on forums but I am still having doubts, so I am posting again.

Now please tell me what should I do—should I activate it or leave it?

If its useful go for it, dont worry other things..

If you met your expectations with Swiggy why bother for another card.
And if you need just for instant discount then after some days you may get pre-approved hdfc rupay card in app
If you need core card for your expense pattern in future then you have to think.

Actually I'm Using
*axis airtel
*sbi cashback
*idfc power plus hp
*indusind legend
Means all spends are settled from different card...
So what's basically good for me... It's too confusing 🤔 to take it or wait for core card.. Because according to forum if i take first Co-branded from hdfc then it's tough to get core...
Also how many days to wait for applying for core card

1. Is the Swiggy paid or LTF?
2. Seeing your existing credit cards it seems you don't travel a lot but still tell me are you a travel person i mean milestone cards vouchers will it benifit you more.
3. How many times you do domestic or international travel in a year.
4. What are your annual spend in range like 5-7L in a year etc

These are determining factors in credit cards.
