Is it possible make payments to closed or cancelled credit card??

I have closed my indusind card on October... But to check whether my card is closed or not... I made payment of 5 rs in January it got successfull... When I asked indusind customer care they said that u can make payments even to the closed credit card.... I have a doubt if card is closed means how can we able to make payments to that closed credit card account..

Ya exactly.... How can they allow payment even after 3 months... And indusind agents are saying u can now also make payments even after 6 months u can make payments to closed credit card...

Whenever the bank identifies any discrepancy, they can apply charges and will send you bill. They can apply charges even after years. You will have to pay it. It's written in their MITC

Bro, indusind is exception they will let your payments successfully and also will send you the last statement with merchant as reversal of unclaimed funds

If you have done anything like that, then yes they may charge you even after getting NOC. Banks will recover their money if they want to.

I don't know exactly the rules with this regard. But what I assume:
when we close the card it will be marked as closed ( soft closure) , which means closed but not permanently closed.
In this phase, we can't use the card for any purchases but we can pay into the credit card account.
Once marked as permanently closed then both debits and credits will be locked.
I need to do a bit of research into this topic..don't know the rules fully yet...

Yeah i had almost every banks cards, to whom I felt somewhat safer only in hdfc,

not talking of Amex as I just don't want apple like features.

Afterall credit cards are risky if misused, we have to pay out with hard-earned money atlast.

Payment to closed cards can be made upto 30 days from card closure and it will settle in new card. After that it will be refunded.

All banks follow these process. My card on upgrading in 2020 was transferred by HDFC from old card to new card (Regalia to Millennia) and I can still make payment to it (regalia card number) and it settles in my current card (millennia). It (Regalia) shows in inactive list of CC but not available in credit reports.

Almost all banks, it is written on their MITC.

Sometimes banks might charge you fees/txn involving merchant dispute/or anything like that even on close cards.

Sometimes, you have have to return items or anything that involves refund on the closed card. How will that refund be processed?

For these scenarios, banks generally allow credit transactions even on closed cards.

@spd , You don't have to worry unnecessary, as expert said everything clearly, it's internal/backend system.
You got NOC as a proof.

I didn't do anything wrong... Official indusind agent called me and said ur pre qualified for poineer legacy ltf card n then when tried to apply he said ur old card is not completely closed... etc then all started...

Seems your 5 Rs is not settled yet at any end, hence showing this.
Not everyone have access to complete backend Financial system.
Don't get anxious as well, surely you will get Pioneer.

some banks have policy to wait for 3 -6 months before re-apply. he used the wrong term, nothing else

contact then to refund the excess credit to your bank, if that's the issue.

They didn't refund n didn't send any msgs or mails etc.. they just make statement as zero on March statement... N 15 days back 6 months completed but still iam getting error as application is already present... ( My last application with indusind is in 2023.. the one which I closed credit card...)

There are better cards than pioneer, leave it you can see how bad service is still you are digging your way in mud?
