Anybody knows what sites/apps are guaranteed to use an MCC of "Utility" category? Amazon's is usually a hit or a miss. They sometimes use an MCC with utility category, and sometimes don't.

I recharged through the MyJio app on 21st August at around 9 AM using my new Axis Neo Mastercard credit card for ₹479. The merchant was listed as 'PTM*RELIANCE JIO' with an MCC of 4900 (Utilities).

The transaction settled yesterday, and today, 23rd August, I received ₹300 cashback.

Please note it doesn't have to be your first transaction, but rather has to be your first utility transaction within the first 30 days of card activation.

I used the Airtel app to recharge my phone as it will expire soon. called customer care and asked for the MCC code and they told me 4814 ( which was eligible) after 2 days got the 300 Rs cashback 😉

Any utility bill payment application will work.
Best use case is pay via Paytm.. above 299rs recharge or any amount.. get 5% discount + 300rs cashback for first utility bill payment

Got the Axis Rupay Neo delivered today. This topic helped. I was thinking of DTH recharge on Axis App itself for Rs.500 which has MCC 4899.

Now will put 500 to fastag instead for MCC 4900. 🙂

Sorry bro. I don't share card pics.

Axis has its image on website. Color is same as MyZone. Magenta and Black with card number and name embossed rather than printed. 🙂
