What is the minimum time interval required between receiving the yellow fever vaccine and traveling to Kenya from India? My only available vaccination appointment is June 20th, and my departure is scheduled for June 27th. The only vaccination center I've found is at CV Raman Nagar Hospital, and they report that June 20th is the earliest available date.

1. Will the eight-day interval between vaccination and travel present a problem? Has anyone experienced a similar situation and can offer guidance?
2. What other option do we have?

1 week is enough. They just check the Yellow Vaccine certificate and is some country they don't. Last year i did in Chennai. Yes u r right it chennai also only Kings Institute Guindy had it on every Wednesday was for Yellow Vaccine.

I visited Kenya in 2023. The airline checked the yellow fever certificate in India before printing the boarding pass. They also checked the same certificate at the boarding gate at Nairobi airport, on my way back to India. Nobody asked for polio certificate.

Different airlines have different requirements. If you're flying IndiGo, they require travelers to take the vaccine at least 4 weeks before their travel date. I don't know if they make any exceptions or not, but a friend of mine wasn't allowed to board because he didn't take vaccine.

I believe Kenya Airways have much liberal requirements if you want to consider.

nope.. nowhere it was checked. Its a life time vaccine. So keep the yellow Card(Certificate) safely.
What was the date you travelled and which airline as I am getting really scared now reading all the above things

Can you let me know how you got to know this as I never saw this requirement anywhere?

I flew IndiGo on BDQ-BOM-NBO route, from Sep 22, 2023 to Oct 1, 2023. They checked my documents including the vaccine certificate at BDQ airport only.

IndiGo has mentioned this here. See point 6 under Additional Requirements.

I wouldn't take a chance with IndiGo, as my friend who was to fly IndiGo in Aug 2023 was not allowed to board, so they're pretty strict about this unless something has changed. Another friend of mine flew Qatar on AMD-DOH-NBO route and they didn't check anything. So I'm assuming it's hit and miss for some airlines.

4 weeks requirement is pretty stupid to be honest, other airlines have much lower window as a requirement, and more importantly the vaccine becomes effective 10 days after vaccination. Your last resort is to take the vaccine, use your contacts if any, and get a backdated certificate.

traveled in june24. MAA-BOM-NBO they just saw the copy of Evisa & Yellow certificate from mobile( in Chennai) and just checked the name & Passport number.
IN NBO - Did not check
NBO- SEZ(Seychelles)- Also they did not check
While returning India - Did not check again

Did you get OPV as well and was it also checked by the airlines? How about you @sahilgulati5 did you get opv and was it checked

I got OPV as well but nobody asked for it.

Yes officially Kenya has been removed from the list of countries where OPV is required now

Also, I think the Indigo website verbiage is confusing "older to receive vaccination against yellow fever and poliovirus at least 4 weeks before their travel and present a valid vaccination certificate on arrival in India."

But what Indigo is refering to is the older OPV requirement of 4 weeks ahead of travel (which is still valid for 11 countries not Kenya) and it doesn't mean 4 weeks for yellow fever that is the only thing that makes sense to me

It's 4 weeks for yellow fever vaccine, that I'm 100% sure of.

okay but based on what other information? this is the verbiage from their own website. Anyways I have also checked with their call center which says 10 days and have written an email to get confirmation.

Apart from that, I dont have anything else I can do will just see what happens based on the 10 day timeline which is the official timeline.

Also checked on reddit with few people who recently few indigo to nairobi and most of them just adhered to 10 day timeline instead of 4 weeks

Again not saying you are wrong or anything
