Will this work with HSBC Live+ card? (Amazon Shopping Vouchers on BlinkIt)

Hey everyone,

I recently got the HSBC Live+ card and had a quick question. Would really appreciate your input.

HSBC gives 10% cashback up to ₹1000 per statement month, and I’m thinking of using Amazon shopping vouchers from Blinkit to make the most of it. I got the card on May 18, and my statement date is June 12. My plan is to buy a ₹10,000 Amazon voucher before June 12 and another ₹10,000 after that. Both would still be within the 30-day window, so I’d complete the ₹20k spend and get the ₹1000 bonus voucher.

But here’s where I’m a bit confused. When I checked the Blinkit transaction, one time it showed “Grofers” as the merchant and another time it showed “Blinkit Retail.” So I’m not sure if this will count as a grocery spend for 10% cashback or if I’ll only get the regular 1.5%, depending on the MCC.

Just to clarify, I’m not spending just for the sake of hitting a target. I actually plan to use the vouchers on something I’ve been meaning to buy on Amazon, which is one of the reasons I got this card in the first place.

If anyone has tried this or knows how it works, please let me know. Thanks!

Just get the MCC from chat

Turn off online transaction.. and then do a transaction which will fail.. then call customer care and get the MCC code.✌️
I think hsbc customer care does not tell MCC code readily.. so you can try it with any hdfc credit card.. their customer support will tell MCC without any issues.

Once u have MCC code, you know which merchant is grocery and will be eligible for 10%

I bought a ₹250 voucher and then contacted the support. The mcc is 5732 which is eligible for only 1.5%!

bro grofers eligible for 10% , till last month i used to get 10% cb, but blinkit fixed it, now grofers getting only for grocery purchases

Blinkit has been fixing loops since they discountinued Zomato credits as mode of payment. There was a similar way with a very prominent but underrated card which people used and recently got discontinued. Used to yield even more than this.
