Want to Close Kotak 811 Account Online After Recent Freeze — Any Way to Do This Without Visiting a Branch?

I want to permanently close my Kotak 811 account after a frustrating experience, and I’m hoping someone here can help me with the online closure process (if it exists).

Here’s the full story:
  • I opened a Kotak 811 account on June 28th, mainly to get the ₹500/month cashback offer.
  • On July 1st, I upgraded it to the 811 Super variant by depositing ₹5,000. ₹399 was deducted as the upgrade fee.
  • On July 2nd, I simply withdrew ₹5,000.
Then, out of nowhere, on July 3rd, my account was frozen. No prior notice, no alerts - just a message saying "transaction patterns differ from your regular activities."

Which was odd, because the account wasn’t even a week old at that point.
After completing Aadhaar KYC, occupation, real-time selfie, and address verification via Kotak customer care, my account finally got unfrozen today, July 6th.

To give you an idea, here's the total activity:
  • Total Deposits: ₹12,017.00
  • Total Withdrawals: ₹11,005.00
  • Closing Balance: ₹1,012.00
  • Only 8 deposits and 4 withdrawals - nothing suspicious at all.
This whole experience has been disappointing. Just for this limited activity, they froze my account and gave no real explanation. In the meantime, I contacted them several times to know the exact reason for the freeze, but no one from the Kotak customer care team gave me a proper answer.

So I contacted Kotak customer care today and told them I want to close the account.
They said they can refund the ₹399 Super account charges and convert the account back to regular 811.

But for permanent closure, they clearly said I’ll need to visit the nearest Kotak branch, which is 33 km away from my home.
That’s just not practical for a digital-first account. If everything can be done online, why not closure?

So now I’m looking for help from anyone here who has:
  • Successfully closed a Kotak 811 (or Super) account online, or
  • Found a workaround without physically visiting a branch.

Any help or recent experience would be really appreciated!

First take 399 refund back into account and withdraw/ trf all the funds..

don't close , let it stay as it is. I stopped using this account for UPI for the random freeze reason. Now i just deposit 5000 per month and use it for grocery/petrol

Most banks require branch visit to close an account, hardly one or two close it online. But you can go for 0-balance 811 regular a/c with virtual debit card. Whenever you are near any Kotak branch while travelinng, just close it quickly from that branch. You can change your home branch via Kotak netbanking and app
