Urgent Help: Legal notice received in the name of my Father for non repayment of Personal Loan of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank,

My father took personal loan of xyz amount IDK from Assam Gramin Vikash bank
Before completion of repayment tenure he passed away on year 2010, Bank had filed a case against my father in the district court.

Today a Notice came in the name of my Father, asking him to report District Session Court on 09-03-2024.
Current due amount 18401+ Interest as per notice.

My Question is do i/we family merbers have to repay the loan amount?
Do i need to be present at the District court on mentioned date? while the notice is in the name of my father only who is no more alive
What should i do now?

April 2023 to March 2024 is the Financial year. So I presume you haven't completed the FY yet.

@DocFixIt @Juganta There is statute of limitations in every case. As @Bugs Bunny said it is 3years for civil cases like these.

You needn't pay anything for this. As this is not even in your name. But you have to appear before court otherwise court might give judgement in bank's favour.

You can settle before that and get a noc. Banks do partial settlement. You can few thousands and settle , if your opportunity cost is more than that. But if you plan to settle, get noc right away. If they say I ll give you paper tomorrow, say I'll give money tomorrow.
