The War

War never truly helps anyone. It destroys lives, disrupts economies, and leaves deep wounds—both physical and emotional—that last for generations. The idea of a full-blown war between India and Pakistan should fill anyone with dread. Both nations are nuclear powers, with vast populations, shared history, and intertwined cultures. A conflict of that scale would be catastrophic not just for South Asia, but for global stability.

That said, there comes a time when taking a stand becomes important. We can’t always turn the other cheek in the face of persistent hostility, state-sponsored terrorism, or attacks on sovereignty. Diplomacy and peace talks must always be the first option—but if those are met with repeated betrayal, should restraint continue indefinitely?

This thread isn’t meant to glorify war. It’s to discuss a serious question:

When does defending national interest justify military action, and when does it cross into unnecessary aggression?
  • Can long-term peace ever be achieved without accountability?
  • What role should the international community play in mediating?
  • And how do we ensure patriotism doesn’t turn into blind hatred?

Let’s have a respectful and honest discussion

Fact check:

In 2024, global military expenditure reached a record $2.72 trillion, marking a 9.4% increase from the previous year. This surge represents the steepest year-on-year rise since the end of the Cold War, highlighting escalating geopolitical tensions worldwide.
