TFS operates 2 lounges at International Terminal in Chennai: one near Gate 11 in the old international terminal and other next to Gate 17 on the 3rd floor. The one near Gate 17 is the newer of the two and is also the better one.
Check-in:
Compared to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, the number of international flights operating from Chennai is significantly less. Hopefully, things will improve once the new terminal goes into full action. The lounge was nearly empty as most international flights depart from Chennai after midnight or during early hours in the morning. So, getting in was a matter of a few seconds. Most credit and debit cards are accepted. Used my ICICI Wealth Management Mastercard World Debit Card for access.
Ambience:
As COVID-19 restrictions weren't lifted completely by that time, tables were sanitised before use and wearing mask was mandatory. This one is much better than the one near Gate 11. As my flight was during non-peak hours, crowd was minimal. There were hardly 7-8 people in the lounge at that time. The seats are well cushioned and all of them come with a charging point.
Food Options:
Despite being a small lounge, food options were plenty. Also, as is the case with most lounges in international departures, alcohol is complimentary. They had North Indian, South Indian as well as Oriental food along with a small range of fruits, salads, breads and desserts. The food was decent. Liquor options were there though mostly low to mid-range.
Conclusion:
It's a nice lounge to spend time as it is less crowded. Anyway, there isn't much to do at Chennai Airport. The food is good and is worth a visit to kill time before the flight.
