YouTube Premium Cracks Down on Family Plan Sharing
YouTube is starting to limit Premium Family accounts shared outside one household. If you're using a plan from a different address, your access may be paused soon.
Some users are getting emails saying their YouTube Premium will be paused in 14 days. The reason? They don’t live at the same address as the family manager — which breaks YouTube’s rules. You’ll still be in the family group but lose ad-free and Premium features.
YouTube checks your location using your IP address over a 30-day period, similar to what Netflix does. If you’re not seen at the home location, your account gets flagged.
Although these rules have existed for a while, YouTube is now starting to enforce them more strictly.
