I’ve been facing a recurring issue with the cashback calculation on my Swiggy HDFC card. Each month, certain transactions that should qualify for 5% cashback—such as those made on Amazon or Meesho—are only earning 1%.
Whenever I contact customer support, they attribute it to the merchant category code (MCC), stating that the transaction falls under a category not eligible for 5% cashback.
My question is: is there any way to prevent this issue? Specifically, is it possible to determine the MCC of a merchant (like Amazon or Meesho) before making a transaction on online platforms?
