Sbi charging 59 for deposit

Yes used dc
I thought so
3 FREE transactions include ATM withdrawal/deposit & deposit at counter using Debit card
AFAIK filling up Deposit challan and depositing money at counter in PSU banks are UNLIMITED
Didn't check with my SBI but in my BOB a/c no charges even after 5 times(last month) CASH deposit at counter using challan

For SBI: https://sbi.co.in/web/personal-banking/information-services/kyc-guidelines/revised-service-charges

Banks send emails and update their websites regularly. It's not bank's duty to let you know about everything. Before using a service it is our own duty to check what are different charges. I myself check website every month end or start of month for any kind of changes of all the banks I have account with. When you open bank website, at end of page there is Service Charges under personal Banking. There is also common service charges link.

Every bank allows 3 free cash deposits after which they charge. Some banks even have deposit max. upto 1L per month for free and after that they charge. So if you deposited 1L in 1 txn and have 3 free txns, you will be charged for second txn itself as you breached limit in one txn itself.

What you expect from bank? You think they will go through your statement first and check whether you have deposited 3 times or more or not?

ATM has 5 free txns and you must note down how many you do. If you are charged for 6th, you can't blame bank.

In India people aren't habitual to reading rules or TnC first. They live blindly and cry.

P.S: Don't take personally. It is just a general reply. You wont be refunded until unless you are a big client for them. In past I also went for 4th deposit in ICICI. Even though I am a big customer to them I didn't bothered them and accepted my neglect on my own. 🙂
+1

People don't even look that the service charges and think that banks without disclosing charging the same.

Some banks already send SMS with no. of txns used like PNB, ICICI. Never withdrawn cash with SBI card.

People always look for facilities and convenience and services as per their will but harsh reality is they don't want to pay. Due to such attitude businesses or banks here don't want to serve customers.

As I always says, people here aren't aware of what world pays for having banking services. We in India living in heaven yet we think we are being looted and it's all because we don't want to pay for things we need.

Where did I even imply that services must be provided free ?!!!

My whole point was that banks are withholding information that is already available to them, ... that they could easily provide such information on the ATM screen itself for customers' benefit. I call the absence of that disservice.

You talk about developed countries. Such information is required by law in many of them to be made available to the customers before any transaction. But it apparently is a crime if demanded in the "heaven" that is India (which is amongst the most highly taxed countries in the world, BTW)!

I can as well flip your point over, and say that people would be willing to pay for service levels equivalent to those in the developed countries.

People are well aware of the quality of services provided by Citibank India while they were here. Haven't seen very many complaining about their service charges.

Comparing citi with SBI or any psu is joke. What service we get properly from SBI at first for the amount we pay

Open an acc - they ask to buy insurance

Just as we were discussing in this thread, Slice SFB has started India's first UPI based ATM for both cash withdrawl and deposit. Hope legacy banks like SBI learn from these new banks and implement the same in their systems too. Carrying an SBI DC just for the purpose of Cash deposit feels unnecessary in this digital era.

If u don't wish to carry DC then u need to write challan n deposit which is very old school approach

Also is there any cash limit while depositing? Here at my home branch they not accepting more than 40k to my account in a single given instant even though I m ready to give my pan n submit for more than 50k

For deposits using debit card, their limit is 40000( that's what my home branch told me)
For deposits more than 40000, I always write challan and they accept those challans for deposits between (50000 to 2 lakh),
Sometimes they ask pan no and date of birth written in those challans.

I’ve never faced any cash deposit limits, nor have I ever been charged. I always fill out a challan and deposit cash, it's a butter-smooth process.

Tip: I personally have about 15–20 challan slips at home, which I picked up from the branch. I fill them out at home at my convenience. So, whenever you visit the branch, grab a few extra slips for future use.

Sometimes old school method works flawlessly. With all gone digital now most of the people even forgot how to WRITE :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

In my SBI home branch, there is also a SBI atm situated just beside it.
In ATM there are always queues(even in Banking hours), People who follows digital approach to deposit/withdraw money via debit card/cashless method, stand in that queue and wait a long time.

But, inside the Bank; there are two cash counter and they are actually empty. I also have a bundle of challan in my home. I fill up the challan inside my home . Go to my branch and deposit my money without standing any queue. Several times those counters are full empty, maximum, I have to stand behind only one person. That's it.

Im addition: SBI cash deposit machine rejects genuine bank notes, In counter if machine rejects some notes, they verify them manually and it's actually a hassle free experience.

No, those banks are allowing only cash withdrawl using upi. No other bank allows UPI based cash deposit.( Union bank advertised their upi based ATM in last year's Great Fintech Fest but never really installed it for the people). Slice is the first bank to provide upi based cash deposit along with withdrawl, without any extra charge(unlike sbi which charges rs.47 if u deposit cash using account number after bank hours or on holidays). This means no need to carry physical DC and no hassle to remember ur account number. Just scan the QR at ATM and deposit money.

U can deposit upto Rs.49990 in a single transaction. 1000055028.webp

The whole point of using digital methods of payment/cash deposit is to minimize human interaction and increase customer's convenience. We all know that the customer interaction in SBI branches is not equal everywhere. Some branches are very good while some branches have horrible staff. Thats y people nowadays prefer to stand in line and wait for a machine rather than face some rude staff for depositing their own money and spoil the day's mood. The trick to bypass the problem of cash notes rejection by the ATM/CDM machine is to visit the nearest customer service point of SBI. It is usually less crowded than the bank and the cash deposited is instantly available in ur account.

Did u use your Debit card for depositing cash in the counter? If YES then charges are applicable after 3 times FREE transaction
AFAIK in SBI filling the DEPOSIT challan and depositing cash in counter doesn't attract any additional charges.
I have never deposited cash till date. What is this deposit using debit card thing?

As far as I remember, YONO cash allows both withdrawals and deposits without any physical DC.

Withdrawals are free, and deposit limit is ₹49900, not sure about charges on deposit.

CC: @Aniket charges rehta hai kya bhai?
