whirlpool bhi badiya kaam kar rahi, hum flatmates ka to kaam ho jaa raha hai
Currently making do with an 8-year-old Whirlpool 180 L fridge in the family. Serves the purpose, but barely so. Here is my recent experience with it:
The thermostat needed to be replaced a few months back. The new thermostat (apparently a genuine one from a Whirlpool branded sealed box, costing Rs. 650/-) conked off in just ~4 months! So had to replace that with the same thing all over again!
It's working fine for ~3 months now, but one never knows. Such replacement parts come with no warranties, and it's just a gamble according to my trusted technician !
So, will have to replace this otherwise functional fridge (with a new mid-size one) this coming sale.
The new fridge will certainly not be another Whirlpool, -- not just because of reasonable doubts about the quality of replacement parts, post-warranty, but also for another, very important, reason:
This 8-year-old Whirlpool was already of a much inferior quality in all respects compared to a 165 L Voltas fridge (that ran satisfactorily for ~20 years). The interior space management of the 180 L Whirlpool was so markedly inferior compared to the 165 L Voltas, that the available usable space was only about 80% of that of the smaller fridge (and that too, with minimal adjustability, and an atrocious shelf design).
It was as if Whirlpool was spending extra design efforts just to penalise customers not going for their more expensive models! I mean, how difficult is it to just copy others' un-patented (and much better) interior designs ?!
I will never go for any other product from such a company.
