Opening sbi account

Hi Team,

I m trying to open sbi acc for my wife by visiting branch directly and the BM is telling to opt life insurance for opening account

I told I will not apply for insurance then she is saying then it's not possible to open the account.

Can I complain to pno or how to proceed here?

ask them to show where it is mentioned that insurance is mandatory to open savings account or ask them to send mail officially. This is bullshit, branch staffs are trying to cross sell. You can see the details of the branch details upto zonal & regional head details stick there, take a photo of it and send them the complaint if they still won't budge.

No need to go to branch for opening SBI account. You can open online via Yono app.

Brother just open an account using VKYC, the only down side is that you need to wait a while to get connected to the VKYC agent. Beats the hell out of dealing with the assclowns at the branch, I opened my account yesterday and it took a total wait time of about 25 minutes to finish creating the account.

even after opening account online, you need to visit branch within one year to make it full kyc. It will ask you to select any branch to choose from, the same branch needs to be visited to complete the kyc.

How did you came to know that your account requires kyc ?

I too opened in April last year and it's working fine.

There are two options proposed; Without branch visit and with branch visit (don't know if still exists)

Secondly, almost every PSU online opened account needs a Physical Re-kyc, either within one ur, or the moment u start transacting heavily. Few lucky ones saved🙂

same for me. When you open online, we get something like a digital account. To get SBI-PUB-CHQ-GEN (that normal thing that we see in net banking), you need to go to branch and ask to convert/do KYC/fill some form etc.
I did it 2-3 years back for my wife, don't remember exactly, but it was not a full fledged account when I opened online. We visited the nearby branch after 2-3 days to complete it. After that we got passbook, chequebook etc by post.

They can't force to take insurance for opening account.
Have you met officer on seat about new account or met only BM ?

Officer on seat or clerk or teller said insurance must be bought and same can be discussed with bm. Then I discussed with bm
