Need help: Best credit cards for ₹3–4 lakh/month utility bill payments

Hi everyone,

I run a Govt Meeseva centre and handle around ₹3–4 lakh per month in utility bill payments (electricity, water, etc.) on behalf of customers.

Here’s what I’m currently doing:
SBI Cashback Card – I buy Amazon Pay gift vouchers (GVs) and pay bills via Amazon Pay. After transaction charges, I’m getting about 3.2–3.5% effective cashback.
But now there are monthly buying limits & restrictions on Amazon GVs, so can’t fully scale this method.

ICICI Coral Rupay Credit Card – Using it to pay directly via UPI on utility portals. But the reward rate is very low (~0.5–1%).

Previously, I also had an Axis Magnus (closed it recently after devaluation and high annual fee, which didn’t justify the rewards on these utility spends)

I’m looking for better cards / strategies:

  • Cards with milestone benefits (vouchers or bonus points for high monthly/yearly spends)
  • Cards that give air miles / travel points even on utility payments (even if base rate is low)
  • Cards that support UPI credit card payments (many utility portals now accept only UPI)

My monthly spend is consistent, so milestone or miles cards could make sense even if utilities get low base rewards.

If anyone here has tried similar or can share suggestions:
🔹 Cards from Axis, HDFC, SBI, ICICI, etc. that work well for such spends
🔹 Cards with good milestone vouchers / annual spend rewards
🔹 Best Rupay credit cards to use via UPI
🔹 Any creative/legal methods to improve reward rate on such utility spends

Would really appreciate your insights or real-life experiences! 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Get AMEX platinum travel credit card, and get ~4% to 5% value in reward points on annual spends of 4 lakhs.

You can also get a AMEX MRCC and pay bills worth 20k every month using it and get ~4% value in reward points.

You are using personal credit cards for business transactions, and it's not even your own transactions. It's laughable that you'd think this isn't misuse. People like you are the reason that most portals are coming up with fair-use restrictions. Only advise is steer very very clear of Axis cards, infact you'd be lucky to be able to use any credit cards for long for this business. Get some business cards from HDFC if you can.
