Axis Atlas MCC issue with Atlas CC hotel booking

sanx

TF Buzz
I recently booked a hotel using my Atlas CC. Now the property belongs to the forest department and as I verified from the axis customer care they have used the MCC 9399, which falls under government transactions. So as per rules, I won't earn any EdgeMiles for this transaction.

Probablt this is a long shot; but is there any possibility to request Axis to grant me Edgemiles (maybe after showing proofs of the type of transaction)?

Don't keep you hopes alive... You won't get it. They will simply deny stating it's the hotel's management mistake of having wrong MCC linked with their POS.
Give a try I haven't heard anyone till date they have received EM for wrong MCC. Even guys who bought cars mapped with wrong MCC haven't received EM.
Try your luck and if its successful let us know..

As per recent change in terms and condition, now rewards are not as per MCC but transaction category. Discuss with them on this point and you might be able to succeed

Which state it this? If it is Kerala all government owned establishments have 9399 as their MCC irrespective of sector. Unfortunately this is govt policy probably to make accounting streamlined or something. Even liqour shops and KSRTC have 9399.

Implications starts from 20th of June
Should have booked after 2 days.
Yes that’s what I am thinking now. Although I think there is not much clarity how they will determine the transaction category of all transactions without the MCC.

I see.. will keep in mind if I book anything later in Kerala. This booking of mine is in West Bengal.

I had paid directly at hotel in one of ITC group hotels. However, Axis said the mcc code for payment made is of restaurants so accelerated rewards has not been given.
Which ITC?
Previously I received points at Rajaputana & Narmada. Planing to use Atlas in Grand Bharat next month.

It was Fortune Park in Hubli, Karnataka
As per new T&C
"There is no change to the spend categories excluded from earning rewards and spendbased fee waiver calculation. However, to simplify, such transactions will be identifiedbased on the spend category (Utility & Telecom, Rent, Wallet, etc.) rather than the assigned4-digit Merchant Category Code (MCC)."

axis will follow which ever is beneficial for them. Now we need to satisfy both conditions, 1)eligible MCC 2)axis should feel its travel category to get points. I booked Canada flight tickets through cathaypacific, which is even visible as cathaypacific in bill but still received 2EM/100. axis refused to award 5EM in email 1000086060.webp 1000086061.webp
