Dear Kotak Team,
I opened my
811 Super Savings Account (ending XXXX) in July 2025 with the required ₹81,100 deposit, based on the clear promise on your website (Infinity Metal Debit Card page, June 2025 -
https://www.kotak811.com/debit-cards/infinity-metal-debit-card ) that:
- Issuance fee ₹4,999 → Waived with 811 Super.
- Annual fee ₹999 → Waived with 811 Super.
- Only charge applicable: Super 811 annual fee ₹399 (per June 2025 GSFC).
However, today (29-08-2025), I received an email from Kotak titled
“Important changes related to your Kotak811 Account” stating that effective Oct 2025:
- Super 811 + Normal Debit Card = ₹399 annually
- Super 811 + Infinity Metal Debit Card = ₹999 annually
This is nothing but a
backdoor reintroduction of the ₹999 fee that was explicitly promised as waived, and it directly contradicts the terms communicated when I opened my account.
This is:
- Mis-selling – I was induced to deposit ₹81k based on the “zero annual fee” assurance.
- Discriminatory – Metal DC holders are penalized with ₹600 more annually than other Super 811 customers.
- Unfair practice – Terms at the time of account opening are being retroactively altered.
I seek resolution on the following:
- Reinstate the waiver for existing Metal DC customers who joined under the earlier offer.
- Provide written confirmation that no hidden/restructured charges will be imposed going forward.
If not resolved, I will be constrained to escalate this matter under the
RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme for mis-selling and unfair fee practices.
