Chortel now stops incoming Calls/SMS immediately on plan expiry.. does VI allow for incoming calls/SMS for a few more days after plan expiry?
Vi also stops but good thing with Vi is every month they give 7 days validity by giving freebie of 1GB/day data. So during that time one can use OG, IC, SMS. But OG SMS not allowed.

Do they allow incoming and sms on plan expiry? For how many daysv
After expiry upto 90 days. The post that your number will likely be discontinued.

Thereafter if you maintain some balance in your Jio number, for each month after the period of 90 days of no recharges, Jio will charge Rs. 20 per month to keep your number active. If no balance is maintained to facilitate the deduction of Rs. 20 per month , then your number would be discontinued.

Yes, Jio keep incoming calls and sms active once plan expires for 90 days. After that they may discountinue your number. If they don't Incoming will keep working. Jio has nothing like stopping incoming services.

Better keep your sim in phone if you don't recharge. It lessens the chances of deactivation. Once out of network they deactivate number permanently without intimation. Sometimes they do send sms before deactivation of number and ask customer to recharge. So keep Rs.100 balance to avoid such mess. They will deduct 20 and IC services will keep working. Remember Rs.20 isn't a plan. It is minimum cost operator can charge customer as per TRAI Number Retention scheme.

Good. Why should they provide free service? Do you get free rent, electricity or water after the due date? If you buy a bus or train pass for 30 days, can you still use it after expiration with some excuse like, I am only coming back from work, not going (only incoming calls) ?

Well they used to allow it till a few months back.. earlier it used to have incoming calls and sms for 15 days, then it became 7 days and now 0
So yes it’s a service they have stopped - all while increasing minimum recharges.. thus making overall the service expensive.

It’s not about free.. it was part of the packages, which they have trimmed now

Yes but don't look at things as per own convinience.

There was a time when for just voice calls of 300 mins (18000 seconds) we had Rs.199 recharge and then for SMS a Rs.49 and data pack of 1GB 125-199 and a romaing pack of Rs.67-96. Overall cost reaching Rs.500. Even if someone had to be for 3 days in roaming, they had to for whole month.

People will never understand the point that things were not cheaper as they seemed. No one has asked you to keep multiple sim and then use network and pay nothing for it.

If that is the thing then remember spectrum cost and infra cost used to 15-20 less than what it was when auction started in 2010-11.

People should be thankful that after spending 5.3L crore just for spectrum companies somehow giving UL experience at Rs.10 per day. In past for 2G pack also of one day we need to spend Rs.20/day.

Jio already has 189 plan for 28 days giving UL calls + 2GB Data and 300 SMS. Also they never stop IC.

If recharge bugs you then move to Vi or BSNL or Jio. Why stay with Airtel.

Sometimes it amazes me that people want to use network for incoming and want it for very cheaper cost. The moment you are connected to network you are using its resource and for that we need to pay. People will have to come out of mindset that teclos in India should keep doing charity so people serve their own purpose of incoming otps.

As things were nearly free for incoming people were keeping 100s of sim to have paytm wallet, freecharge wallet and numerous other wallets registered on multiple wallet. Were using these wallet for monetary benefit and running their business out of it and were paying nothing to telecom company which was actually serving the purpose for them.

Doodh ke dhule huye nahi hai log. Fir aa jatey hai gareebo ka naam le ke ki gareeb kaise har month manage karega. Arrey pehle jab 500 mein 45 din ki validity multi thi tab bhi log 1 saal mein 2 baar recharge karke kaam hala lete thay.

Accept it or not. Things are cheaper today than in past but for that to understand people will have to go deeper.

No point dragging the conversation further. It’s a philosophical debate and not going to change anything

Peace ✌️ ✌️

In 2001, I used to pay Rs.12/min for outgoing and Rs.10/min for incoming. Then the mobile revolution happened and price started coming down. In 2011 I was paying Rs.550/mth for unlimited calls incl roaming and 5.5 GB EVDO data. Also had a MTS EVDO Rev B connection that gave 40 GB data for 999/mth at around 3 mbps stable speed. Each circle had 8-10 operators and consumers were the king. Then the politically motivated fake so called 2G scam (so called as the Supreme Court later exonerated all and fake because even this govt is using the same principle of allocating spectrum for satellite telephony). Most of the companies were forced to surrender spectrum or shut operations. And we ended up with practical duopoly.
In a duopoly, the consumers are butchered. So that is happening now.

All this was done to benefit one company.....22 lakh jobs were lost in this operation to benefit a particular company to launch its services....With each job loss, there are 3 to 4 dependent people who also lose their dreams, future and hopes.

All those who are justfying the tariff hike citing high cost etc....Pio and Chortel are profitable companies...Their annual profit is around 25000 Cr each and it is increasing 25% and 57% on y-o-y basis.... EBIDTA margin is more than 50% which is unprecedented......so what is the need of tariff hike...seems chortel is recovering the money donated through electoral bonds and pio is recovering the money spent on marriage.
