Jio Recharge Plan Hike - Effective 3rd July 2024

If you are using Samsung phone then look at the 5G Logo. The dark logo = 5G connected and when it fades then 5G disconnected. It all happens because Airtel is having NSA 5G while Jio has SA 5G. NSA 5G runs on 4G as core network and 5G as add-on while SA 5G works on 5G core network.

Another thing Samsung users can do is dial * # 0011 # and it will show the connected bands and if 5G radio is connected it will show Band 78 and 100 MHz bandwidth.

My brother use Airtel sim and this thing is always there in every area where it switches back to 4G but signal shows as 5G but 5G radio disconnects and a faded logo confirms it.

Check the screenshot. Only on Samsung you can see this. When it is disconnected data deducts from pack as it is actually using 4G radio.

5g NSA generally disconnects when the data is not in use to save power and lower congestion. However, the moment you start using data, the NSA connects and you are on 5g if the signal is available.

As they provide unlimited 5g currently. If I recharge for next 5 years will I get unlimited 5g for the next 5 years Even if they discontinue unlimited 5g let's say next year

Yes, it will continue if plan had unlimited 5G detailed with it.

But if you have old plans like I am having, it may or may not provide.

Plans recharged after UL 5G launch had Unlimited 5G detailed in plan details so Jio always keep TnC as it is and they will allow you. Only new subcriptions will get affected. Just like they disallow 1.5GB/day plans, they may disallow 2GB/day plans in coming days.

UL 5G will stay for long with plan price increasing to have it. Like in future only 399+ plan will have UL 5G but older plan UL 5G will continue to work.

So recharge done now and stacked or vouchers bought now will keep providing UL 5G and that I can assure on stamp paper.

For a long time like 4 years I used 399/444 vouchers.

Currently 1299_336Days_24GB and UL 5G active. After that 1559 vouchers will start. Before that was using 399/444_84 Days vouchers bought in 2019 at 349/394 with Rs.50 discount coupns Jio offered (If you remember with 399 recharge Jio used to provide Rs.50 X8 discount coupons which we can apply either on recharge or vouchers).

Voucher kitty currently on personal Number.

1. Rs.149 - 20 Days - 1.5GB/Day Qty Left: 1
2. Rs.395 - 84 Days - 6GB Qty Left: 4
3. Rs.399 - 84 Days - 1.5GB/day Qty Left: 1
4. Rs.555 - 84 Days - 1.5GB/day Qty Left: 8
5. Rs.599 - 84 Days - 2GB/Day Qty Left: 7
6. Rs.1559 - 336 Days - 24GB Qty Left: 3
7. Rs. 2399 - 365 Days - 2GB/Day Qty Left: 1
8. Rs. 2545 - 336 Days - 1.5GB/Day Qty Left: 1
9. Rs. 2999 - 365 Days - 2.5GB/Day Qty Left: 2

All the above old recharges and vouchers continue to provide UL 5G. Recently did 395 vouchers recharge to my father's number and UL 5G added in 20 hrs. With older vouchers they credit UL 5G add-on in 20-36 hrs while with new ones it is instantly credited like with 2545 and 2999.

Already family numbers having 15-30 months left on different numbers with recharges already stacked up.

More or less this investment has reaped better result due to nearly 100% hike in tariffs. Even if tariff reduces which has lesser chances as it can stablize but won't reduce much, these will recover my cost.

Unlimited 5G ka kitna use hota hai btw ghar pe to broadband hoga hi.

It is chargeable....People are sharing wrong info...Might be jio employees....I called Indusind bank helpline 18602677777 and few other 1860 no's multiple times...A prompt is played that call will be charged and the amount is deducted from top up balance.

For sure, it is not deducted instantly...i called indusind bank yesterday, my balance was around 450 Rs and today it is 420 Rs

lets see what happens tomorrow, to my recent call with AXIS support ..
I have taken screenshots before and after the call..
The balance is still the same , no money deducted as of now..

1) At 15:31 pm - Jio Balance : 296.64



2) At 15:33 pm - Call made to AIXS 1860 number for 1.21 minutes






3) At 15:57 pm , still the same balance 296.64

I never topup for talktime balance because calls are free.
Before that I remember we could use this balance for data topup recharge. But is that possible now?
Apart from that, this talktime balance is used only during international roaming I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

When I call from my Airtel number to the same Axis support, it deducted Re1 for a 4 sec call immmediately..
Previously, I never observed whether any money got deducted or not from Jio number when I called to 1860 nos.
This time I will know it by tomorrow..

Another thing is: when I called from Jio number, there was no prompt saying that charges will be deducted.. same is the case with call from Airtel also..
my calls were connected immediately without any delay or message in both the cases...

I dont even remember how I recharged this amount of Rs 296.

not sure how to use it also.. I think I might have recharged when some bonus/ discount offer was going on.. just for emergency purposes..

But on the ground , JIO is much much better .. hands down.. Airtel is no way closer…
That’s the fact.. at the moment it is saving me a lot by providing the internet access where Airtel failed to provide both mobile net and Fibernet.. and the worst part is their CC is not even talking responsibly inspite of the worst service.. I threatened to disconnect and they are happily accepting my offer…

My god. And there customer care is horrific. I know that for a fact.

They have started cutting the wires in our locality also. Have to see how long they don't touch airtel fiber cables

Everyday I will get an SMS saying that it will be restored by 5 pm, 11Pm or something like that..
Unbelievably the worst service by Airtel , with regard to the product quality and customer service etc..

The only improvement is: Airtel mobile internet sarted working after 4 days of outage..

Luckily Jio has saved me big time this time around..
This 75GB free data voucher for my yearly recharge ( done at Dasara last year) is really helping me to keep my work going on...

I think you used +1 at the beginning of number and your call got connected to the US number.
Therefore you have been charged.

In airtel, u can't use anywhere except to call these 1860.. numbers which are chargeable. Also, there are some SMS like earlier if we need LE some banks ask us to send message which charges 3rs. per msg. Otherthan that its no use.

Classic case of Sunk Cost Fallacy. I'd say save yourself from Chortel. Get a reputed local broadband.

Sir, this is exactly what I was referring to earlier. I am not fan of any particular telecom operator. But, only when people face such kind of problem and (helplessly) unable to resolve within stipulated time then only they understand the core issues.

You are seeing it with Airtel this time. I have faced much worse than this with Jio. My sim was blocked for solid 15+ days. No one could help me out that time. Even jio care offline city offices, appellate authorities etc. were helpless because I was on roaming. TRAI never responded. Later stronger email to the ministry official including minister has probably sorted it out.

I am unhappy with telcos not just because they are doing such abnormal things, but also because government in a way allowing this to happen. TRAI is for namesake. At the same time I understand sometimes things may not be at their control. But, blocking a number all of a sudden citing incorrect allegations like fraud is out of anyone's imagination at the time when mobile numbers are part of our daily life activities.

I started hating from inside when someone come out to defend telcos without realising the fact that those showing their outburst may have suffered a lot than a normal guy could imagine.

You also are well aware about the fact that the things worked for me may not work for others, and also it worked for me today doesn't mean it will continue working for me forever.

All I want a stronger TRAI may be like RBI or even better.
