yes, mobile services are always location dependent. thats why there can never be a single winner.
but the winner can be ascertained on the other factors / features other than call / data quality.. and in those other factors Jio probably wins more than airtel ..
I prefer Jio for some features like 1) can stack the recharges for so many years where as airtel only for 2 years , 2) free calls to 1860 ... to name a few..

As I had mentioned elsewhere, Airtel is only for postpaid family users. For most prepaid users, Jio is better. For certain class of users, Vi prepaid will be a better choice. If someone is mainly limited to one or two locations, whichever operator has better signal strength at those location should be the automatic choice. But if one has to roam around regularly, then any one operator is never enough. I personally am forced to use all 4 to ensure maximum connectivity.

yes, irrespective of primary preference there should always be a backup.. after all it is a technolgy based product..
and hence
my primary -Jio..
backup -airtel (the next best)

It seems the issue is broader across Hyderabad for the last one week or so …

And it seems Airtel has some added problems on top of this…

I am surviving on Jio mobile data for the last two days..
My Airtel BB n mobile data not working…

It seems local ISPs are also suffering from this cable cutting…
What a tragedy ..
My god. And there customer care is horrific. I know that for a fact.

VI will eventually have its natural death in the due course..it all depends on how GOI wants to act , as it is the majority biggest shareholder (49%) ...
May be both BSNL and VI might get merged .. who knows...

As per my understanding Govt will not become a major shareholder. However, it will take a haircut on the outstanding AGR dues which will give Vi a breather for a couple of years.

I have also read that Banks are just waiting for this AGR haircut so that they can ensure the going concern status of VI before providing fresh loans. Sure they will demand security for such finance.

If the current govt still persist then most likely it will incorporate it and then sell to ahem ahem "Others".
Even if it gets merged to bsnl initial period will be boom to users with vi great infra compensating bsnls lack.

The future is always unknown. So we have to live in the present. Back in 2010, Blackberry ruled, today it no longer exist.

Vi is my backup number and for bank OTP. During covid, I used their WFH data packs for about 2 years and have lot of carried forward unused data. So now I recharge with the 1999 annual plan and then 69 every 28 day to ensure that the addon data is not lost. In 4G, at most places it gives better speeds than both airtel & jio, so data is used as an when needed.

As they provide unlimited 5g currently. If I recharge for next 5 years will I get unlimited 5g for the next 5 years Even if they discontinue unlimited 5g let's say next year
Asking for jio recharge queue and unlimited 5g benefits

Most likely NO.
Because it is an addon to the current plan..not the main part of the plan..

I am gonna ask a little spoon feeding question, pls dont mind: (From Hyderabad)
Primary SIM is airtel
Secondary SIM is Vi (got it because it was providing option to choose number)

Since I recharged it recently for 84 days, I am thinking of porting it to Jio near expiry.
Jio has a 84 days calls only plan for 448, can you do a data add on to this like the 90 days 5gb for 100?

While I agree with the logic, unfortunately, for me there is just a single option, -- Jio, my primary, -- and now the backup too, -- in another phone (after porting from BSNL after suffering their horrendous service for years)! I know it doesn't make much sense, but I'd never go back to Airtel after the experience I've had with their service. Vi doesn't seem to be a prudent option now (and I wasn't impressed with their customer service either, -- even before signing on)!

Is there a good (and safe) way to retire a number that I have had for years?

Why not recharge with Rs. 189 for 28 days? This includes 2 GB data too. -- Or is the plan not there any more?

I don't know..
One time I had idea pre paid for about aa month or so and I stopped recharging after a month of having it.. this was about 7 years ago.. it still shows under my aadhar when I last checked..that's how much safe our data is in India

They have started cutting the wires in our locality also. Have to see how long they don't touch airtel fiber cables
When they start cutting they font discriminate among the ISPs ..they just cut..thats what my local airtel guy told me..

But I read somewhere that HC gave stay orders on further cutting..God knows what's happening..
