IOB debit card

If my old card deactivated by bank & I request for a new card will it count as replacement or not?

Full story goes like this, 👇
My old card was chipless so it got deactivated after rbi mandatory rules, (I didn't upgrade that time). Now I want to apply for a debit card but their replacement charges are 50%more than that for a new debit card. I am thinking if they'll charge me more as for replacement stating I had a card earlier.. Has anybody done this earlier or aware of bank rules from rbi or something related to this?

I don't think it is considered as replacement but if you want a new card, you can apply through netbanking only issuance you'll get.
Else go to bank and tell them that the dc was closed as it was chipless and you were not available so couldn't get any dc in place of that

Then either you apply online or you create a new bank account in iob🤣🤣 and then let them give new dc to you then close the old one

Thx for suggestion. But I'm thinking of dumping them totally. Unhappy with the service I got.
But I would say keep some balance and leave it as it is... If at any point in your life you needed a loan, they might be better and less scavenging you for any ulips or other BS... just my suggestion
I'm with them since 10 years and my father from almost 4 decades now

But Account will go dormant in a year or two. IOB is levying 114rs for inoperative account.
I myself hv paid almost 1000rs as inoperative charges which they deducted without any communication /sms..
I used to like IOB a lot, in fact it was my primary account 8 yrs ago.. I am IOB customer since 15 yrs.,
I think they are not what they were earlier ,they used to be customer friendly /customer centric those days .
branch officials r arrogant now and customer service is almost non-existent.
In fact they lie., one executive told me 413rs debit card charges include both issuance fee +annual fees. 2nd time another executive told me the issuance charges for rupay platinum is 413 rs now (which is wrong as per iob website), 3rd executive told me 413rs includes 163rs gst, 250rs rupay charges (which is again a lie), 4th time csr told me she can't help & advised me to ask in branch y they deducted so much .. I am sure if I call their customer care I'll get another lie/funny reply.. 5th one told me this is wrong number, u can on another number.. Who knows if there's a fraud txn in emergency they'll even help the customer or not.

Ohh sad to hear that... Also, inoperative charges I think every other Bank takes but if you are totally skipping any txn then actually makes sense to exit them... I am using it for IPOs n upi mostly as it is very good

It's 350rs + GST which is the charges for their Visa Signature card. Those executives can't do math. The only way you can test it is by issuing the card...
