There is a saying in Telugu 'inta gelichi rachha gelavali', i.e., one has to win at home before winning the world. In the same sense, the bank that blocks for domestic txns can't be trusted for foreign remittances .

Inward remittance is pretty straightforward for IDFC. They call you to ask for a purpose code to deposit the amount in your account. The amount takes 72 hours max to credit they said. It reached my account in 48 hours. The said to prevent delay or of them calling to ask the sender to send the purpose code in Telex message.
