IDFC Select to Wealth upgrade

Hi, I have IDFC savings bank account under Select banking program.

I learned in this forum that if one can deposit 10L+ in savings account then it can be upgraded to Wealth account. Can anyone tell me for how long one needs to deposit 10L+ fund to get eligible for the upgrade for existing Select customers?

Its been a while I have used IDFC Wealth DC's lounge access feature.
Can someone kindly confirm if lounge access is still available on this card ? I am planning to use it on BLR international airport.
Can I get entry along with my partner with this card ?

There's lot of devaluation of all the cards recently so would like to confirm if this bank has done any criteria specific lounge access.

Then yes you can use,
Additional you can generate QR code a day before travelling as it's valid for 48 hours for the lounge you want to visit.

QR code generated is lounge specefic in case of priority pass.
PS: you can also cancel generated QR if haven't availed

You can search which lounge you want to visit,
For international search in global lounges column and then airport and then lounge, it works same with QR code generation in international lounges too. But in some cases dreamfolks don't have tie directly, so you need to register or book some time before like 24-48 hours.

Just search the airport you are going to internationally, you will know

Yeah. That's done. I registered there but it doesn't have option to book as such. IDFC guide which I saw just now says; I just mention that I am loungekey member and show my card. Hope that works !?

Yes, if you have logged in loungekey,
Check for lounge in the app, and show QR code.
Here QR code is not lounge specific, it means your ID .
There willl be option in app check

Need Guidance on Upgrading IDFC 10K MAB Account to Select Variant

Hi everyone,

I need some suggestions from fellow Technofino members regarding my IDFC FIRST Bank savings account.

🔹 I had opened a normal savings account with 10K Monthly Average Balance (MAB) on 7th June 2025.
🔹 Since then, my maintained average balance is already ₹2.10+ lakhs.
🔹 My main use of this account is to earn reward points by paying credit card bills via the IDFC debit card, and honestly, zero charges on most services is a big bonus.


Initially, the app didn’t show any Relationship Manager (RM), but now it does. I contacted the RM recently regarding upgrading my 10K variant to the Select variant (which requires a 3L MAB).

🔻 What the RM told me:

He’s suggesting approval from higher officers is needed to upgrade my existing 10K account to Select.

Alternatively, he suggested closing my 10K account and opening a new Select variant account, even with 1–2 lakh balance (not necessarily maintaining 3L MAB).

He also added that there won’t be any penalty or issue even if I don’t maintain MAB in the new Select account, as per his assurance.

❓ My Dilemma:

Should I request upgrade through RM’s higher officer route?

Or should I let them close this 10K account and open a fresh Select account?

Will there be any impact on account history, rewards, or debit card benefits if I close and reopen?

Is it worth taking the RM’s word that Select variant won’t enforce the 3L MAB?


Would love to hear your guidance or anyone with similar experience.

1 month, 3 months, or few days, all of these are just situational responses (rules) thrown by the IDFC folks.
Even the one that I'm going to share is just there to get bypassed in certain cases.

What does your Average Monthly Balance show in the IDFC app/website?
Once it starts showing anything greater than 5L, you could talk to you RM to start the upgrade process. If they deny or give some excuses, get back to this thread. We will fix that.
It is 3rd May today. If you transfer enough funds, it would start showing Average Monthly Balance around10L in next few days.

As part of upgrade process, this is what RM does:
1) Open a ticket to upgrade your account to Wealth.
2) Get the consent from the customer for upgrade, via a link.
3) After taking consent from the customer, get an approval from someone working in the capacity of branch head.
4) Once the branch head approves, the Wealth DC is generated and it starts reflecting in the app/website.
5) You get your Wealth DC kit in 5 days depending upon your PIN code.
6) As soon as you activate your new Wealth DC, the old DC would get deactivated and removed from your account.

After you get your Wealth DC and the account starts reflecting as IDFC Wealth logo in the app/website, you could withdraw all the funds except the minimum balance criteria of your base account i.e. if it was 25k MAB savings account, then you need to maintain only that.

It's just that don't tell any IDFC employee you are interacting with that you will withdraw all the funds.
After the upgrade, you could upgrade your RM too. 😉
There are different RMs for IDFC Wealth program (RM First Wealth, shown under "My relationship team" in the app.

Its been 4-5 days when RM of my father's wealth account sent me consent of family banking and upgrading to wealth. But it has not been upgraded yet. How much time will it take to upgrade my account also after signing the consent.

They do not usually downgrade but you never know what’s gonna happen in the future.
