Idfc select account upgradation

Hi, I visited Idfc first bank branch to open Idfc select variant account. The BM informed that i need to made an IP of 3 lakh. Then they open my account in the tap and I handed over a check of 3 Lakh on 06.03.25. Next day the check cleared from my another bank and deposited my idfc bank. Then on 10.03.2025 I provided my consent . Same day the RM informed the account will be upgraded to select with 3 days. On 11.03.25 i got a welcome kit where I found a master card world dc and a checkbook, the dc not activated till date. Still the account is not upgraded. The account balance remains 3 lakh since date of opening. Please guide me about next course of action from my end, or i should wait for few days. Please any experience fellow guides me in this regard. Thank you in advance.

That's the base Account variant DC, just activate the DC and do a minimum 1K transaction, you will get 2000 RPs which is equivalent to 500rs.
Due to Holi and FY ending, it will take 2-3 days extra compared to other times. Once your account gets upgraded to Select, your Normal DC will disappear and it will show Visa Infinite Select DC. After that, again do 1K transaction from Select DC to get 1000rs. Also, can apply the Firstap sticker with the Select DC.

My Journey of Upgrading to IDFC Select banking​

I got upgraded to IDFC Select Banking on the 13th of June 2024. The process was seamless after giving the consent on 10th June. Virtual DC was generated after few hours. The physical card has not been received yet, I am using the virtual one with no issues. It is showing in the app from the next day IDFC First Select.

I am sharing my history with IDFC: (WOW Card) May 2023 only this was available -> SB Account 25KMAB Joint July 2023 (Secondary Holder) -> SB Account 25KMAB Joint October 2023 (Primary) -> Applied Via CashKaro got IDFC Millenia/Classic without docs via C2C (Selected Millenia 1.38L)-> SB Account 25KMAB May 2024 -> First Select Account Conversion on 14th June 2024 -> Called the CC asked for Select Card as I was pre-qualified instantly request taken card generated within few hours
I only spend Rs130 using my Millenia Card before the upgrade.
Also, got a new single account for my mother...

Does the rewards cap reset after upgrading the account variant?
I am currently a normal account holder and have the IDFC FirstTap DC as well. I have reached the cap of rewards.

Now, if I upgrade to Select, will the cap reset? Will the IDFC FirstTap automatically get considered under IDFC Select?

Will not reset but will extend up to 30K for Select.

I am currently a normal account holder and have the IDFC FirstTap DC as well. I have reached the cap of rewards.

you can earn more 22K RPs this month after the upgrade.

Will the IDFC FirstTap automatically get considered under IDFC Select?

No, you have to reorder a New FirsTap for your Select DC

@Anindya98 My RM is saying that I can upgrade if I maintain 3L balance. She is saying that there is no penalty if I don't maintain AMB after upgrade but after around six months, IDFC will downgrade if I don't maintain regularly. Is that true?

No one will downgrade your account. Keep around 50K-1L in SB and a small amount in FD.

@SSV does idfc downgrade the wealth account if we don’t maintain the criteria?

If you use your account regularly and do a small amount in FD, no one will downgrade it.

I was requesting classic to select credit card upgrade over email. the next day got a call from Virtual relationship manager for upgrading my account to select banking and they will provide me select credit card as well
but he is pushing me to take insurance savings plan in tata aia for 50k premium yearly for 7 years. No 3L maintenance and all. just take policy and enjoy select banking. he has sent me email as well for it.

Shall i proceed or he will missell
or waste of hustle(policy) for a select banking.

Get it via 3L, don't go for insurance

or waste of hustle(policy) for a select banking.

Always go through the SB route rather than taking some useless insurance for your VRM's profit.

Open a Select Account with 3L IF and enjoy it for 6-12 months, maintaining the base variant MAB only.

Thanks @Anindya98. After ignoring the Virtual Relationship Manager (VRM) I went to nearby idfc branch and the executive from branch said he can open select banking with zero initial deposit. I agreed and closed my previous 10k AMB account and he opened new 25k account and while opening there were various banking options (select, wealth and private) showing in his tab and he chose select.
He told me to just keep 25k amb and it shud be good.
Will the account downgrade in future?

Yes, it will downgrade to normal 25K MAB.

Do u know the MF/Stocks requirement for wealth? Also it should only be Mutual Funds or Stocks also count?
